So the creator of this thread's poll believes that the only team capable of winning the upcoming International Fifteen-a-side Competition, if not the over-hyped New Zealand side, must then be another side from the recently concluded Southern Three Nations nonsense?

I tire of so-called sports journalism. These gulping reef fish reported a triumphant crushing of Australia by New Zealand in Auckland a couple of weeks ago, whereas the reality was that a try awarded to New Zealand was blatantly untrue, and if the Australians had scored the penalties on offer, it would have been a draw.

Don't forget that the South Africans have also recently done some trouncing.

This New Zealand side should win this IFC if it remembers how to play rugby and if that damned Richard McCaw stops cheating at the breakdown. Referees don't like that much, and neither do I.

A bit of originality amongst the after match comments wouldn't go amiss either. Definitely, obviously.

If there is to be an All Black RWC win, that humiliating defeat by Australia might be just the thing to do it!

If Henry is still smug after that, they haven't got snowball's chance in hell of winning it!

Hungry fighters fight best and if that does make them hungry enough to really hit their stops they will be hard to contain!

They are a good side but the top two inches of their heads are inclined to fog over from winning too many matches between RWC events!

Henry should have been replaced after the last RWC shambles!

Reckon so John. The two losses are a bit of a shock and just what is needed to wake the players up.

By the way, after all the noise about Sonny Bill Williams, I have yet to see him do anything remarkable. The guy has talent certainly but alongside existing All Blacks he just looks ordinary.

Happy to be wrong given what he has previously shown on the league field.

Now you're cooking with gas...I watched last night's game at the Whale & Ale, the pub in Clarkson WA the crowd was mostly Kiwi but this little Wallabies fan in RED & BLACK really had them guessing:violin:
It was entirely predictable that Wally B was going to come on strong after being humiliated by Samoa & NZ in NZ...& they did it without the superstar brat (J O'fuknConnor) thus making a real team of themselves not just a support group for a talented wanker!

I think the two losses in a row was a good thing, it's a refreshing change going into the world cup without nz supporters and the All Blacks thinking it is a done deal with the cup already in the cabinet.

Exactly right.

How many times have the AB's gone into a World Cup as Favourites?
Pretty much everyone of em (cept for 91)after dominating every team going...something any other team in any professional sport in the world would kill for.
The 100+ year long All Black dominance of world rugby has come about for one reason only and that (for all you mincing non-believers)is because of what the Black Jersey means to the NZ population.

Aussie gave the AB's the best fucking wake-up call they could get (period)their forwards steamrollered us round the park and the whole team tackled their arses off.The way they played would have seen any other team 30 to 40 points in the hole...in the first half.

The second half comeback was glorious to watch, but still it was just put out of reach by a fantastic piece of individual brilliance from the Aussie half back.
Australia and any other team who want to beat the All Blacks have to play like that for 80 minutes if they want to win a World Cup...and good on them if they do.

The AB's are only going to be stronger and wiser because of this.

Everyone cheats at the breakdown because no one knows the rules. Not even the refs. A penalty there is almost as random as penalty at scrum time!

Go the All Blacks!

Maha
29th August 2011, 12:04
How did they play is the relative question? (2 weeks out)
Win or loose...the AB's seemed to be out played from what I saw of the highlight package on the news.
Against SA..the turnover rate was 2-1 in favour of the Springboks...that is not good.
28 turnovers against the All Blacks?...shouldn't happen at test level.
Will the All Blacks win the comp?... I would hope so.
We wont know for sure until about 9.30pm on Oct 23rd.

For Deans I was hoping for a win but now Henry has had a couple of smacks around the head, maybe, just maybe he will wake up!

When it is a knock out competition like the RWC, all the teams are in top condition so it's only the top two inches of the head that makes the difference!

Unfortunately the AB's have suffered from attitude every year since number one.

They get into their heads that they only have to turn up and worry about how much they will win by .... whammy, it aint about appearance money any more!

This time they might "all" (especially Henry) just be "hungry" enough to win the competition!

I think that was the case for the first four, but seeing how it is so long since they won one, now I think it is a problem of they don't know how to win it.

They seem to be more interested in playing pretty rugby then winning rugby.
They don't know how to change a game plan when it is not working, they have forgotten how to play for position or to play for safety when required.

They seem to want to look flash and run it from everywhere. Everyone has to be able to play three different positions equally well rather than their own position exceptionally well.

Then again, easy to criticise from the sidelines.
