Anybody bother replacing the cheek pads etc in their helmet? Advantages if you do? Should they be replaced from time to time?

Brooke did. Advice from the shop when she brought them (Boyds) and she found it was more comfy. If the helmet isn't feeling as snug, take out the lining and give them a wash. Apparently it puffs them up again and it's like new (was gonna throw in a sexual term but thought I'd keep it 'G'). I haven't had my helmets long enough to try but a few people have told me it so it's gotta be true!

Might try the wash thing. Feels a little less snug than it used to...

I did. Put 2 new cheek pads in my Arai, RX-7. Felt just like a new helmet afterwards.

Best thing I have done, to the helmet, in a while.

Priced new pads this morning...just under $100 per pair...fark!

Seems a lot. Maybe they have genuine gold inserts or summat.

Anyone know of a cheaper source?

Did the same for my Shoei XR1000, felt just like a new helmet again.

How much is it to run your washing machine? ;) In saying that you probably have to hand wash them. If it works you've saved yourself a hundy, if not, at least you know and you can report back here saying "it smells nicer but it's a crock of shit".

Better or worse?

...it had gone, but then, I went and bought a new one, seemed the easier option.
