Bullshit. The ute crossed the centreline completely and was lucky to avoid rolling over into the ditch.

Fair call.
The way KB is these days though there's bound to be some bugger in here before too long suggesting the world would be better off if the biker was killed.

I'd have come off my bike in the shocked aftermath of a close shave like that most likely. With car long gone, oblivious to the rider suffering from heart failure and road rash.

I followed a car once that was right on the centre line as it went round a corner in a 100 km/h area. Right on the bend it met a car on the centre line going the other way and they hit on their wing mirrors.
The other car kept going and I never saw it again.
I stopped the car I was following and the female driver was drunk.
What was even more interesting was a few months before she had had a crash on that same bend in the same sort of circumstances, but on that occasion she ran off after the crash and wasn't found until the next day.
Karma eventually caught up with her. :Police:

I would have had a spontaneous and fairly substantial evacuation then been really pissed off at having to try get the gear off and hidden in the bottom of the washing machine before #1 spotted it.
Seriously though, Holy fuck that was close!

Time for a Stebel me thinks. And perhaps a rear mounted rocket launcher so they can't repeat the stunt.

Yup - that was close... Had a few similar moments on the Paekakareki Hill road and I was a lot closer to the gutter on my side....
I really prefer the left hand wheel track and only approach the centre line if I'm well sighted to see whats coming. 'Course on some roads (Akatarawa's for example) thats very difficult to do.
Vehicles have gotten bigger and bigger and gruntier and the drivers lazier.

Actually, I did mean what I said.
From what I could see in the clip, the rider was nowhere near the left wheeltrack and the SUV was straddling the centreline (about centred under his diff). Also, the 'corner' was really no more than a slight bend. Yes - video sometimes distorts things - but it really looked like the rider would be able to see well ahead, so he should have seen the other vehicle in plenty of time to not be caught out.
Mind you, I can understand that it is possible the SUV driver deliberately (?) veered right at the last minute...

To avoid a rabbit maybe?
One of the problems with a camera is that it only has one view on the situation.

The Ute was on the wrong side coming out of a minor corner.
I've had a car hit me in exactly the same manner when I was driving my car, clipped mirrors but put mine straight through my half open drivers side window and into my face.
Wasn,t hurt bad but scared the hit out of me,,,,then I had the same thing happen on the same corner about a month later when riding my bike, but it was as I was coming out of the corner this time and the car driver "not the same person" was setting up to enter it by first swinging wide onto my side of the road,,,only missed because I took action.
This is why I still make referance to locals cutting corners on Awhitu rd on the way up to the top of the South Manukau heads.
I like firearms,,,,and I do have my private fantasys:yes:

Actually, that video might be in NZ. Riding on the left side of the road and the black Hilux has what could well be an NZ plate.
