Looking for some wisdom from those with experience with these bikes (I haven't yet).

Looking for the best deal RF900 on a limited budget. There are presently a number of options!
I've searched the forums and read around the 'net a bit, but I was hoping someone might know some of these bikes, and perhaps give some advice on which you'd look into.

White. Clearly not original, but looks in good nick externally.

Green. Higher kms but more extras.

Purple. Ugly, not running, but possible easy fix and low kms. Rego records state that it's supposed to be green?!

Yellow. Really high kms, lots of extras, best looking of the bunch.

Tips or suggestions appreciated.

Or if someone has a nice ZZR600 (E) in a similar price bracket I may be interested. :innocent:

Could possibly stretch the budget (or talk price down to it) for this one:

Red/Silver.

I have owned one a year and a half ago. Best damn sport/tourer in my opinin out there. Wife and I did a South Island trip in comfort. They are getting on now and you need to check for the usual wear and tear. Suspension, brakes etc.
The motors and boxes are basically the GSXR1100 lump that has been detuned so basically bulletproof. Parts are plenty and reasonable priced. Aftermarket parts like exhausts are wee bit trickier to get new as the bikes are now old, but you can still find them seccond hand. The only problem I have encountered was that from factory they come out with add size chain. So you will need to look into new chain and sprocket set if the original is still on. For memory factory was 520 or something like that.

Bottom line is they are quick, handle well AND are very economical. I use to get close to 300kms on a tank on mine on open road. Also have the love or hate spaceship ass end.

I'd say find the best out of the bunch, check suspension and brakes and enjoy it.

This one is here in Hamilton Honda, and I know the previous owner personally. And the guy was a very fussy bastard, to the point that he clean the bike after every single ride. Bike really is in like new condition and 70% of the milage is touring open road milage. I would say out of all the ones I have seen lately, this would be the best buy.

I'd like to point out that those are not high km's on the RF's.

Flick Drew a private message, I am still wanting to get an RF when funds allow and he has heaps of advice.
The ZZR600E is a good bike, but, don't play with the ram air system.

They really did produce them in naff colours.
The green however, has always been the standout and that one in the link (though I have never seen it around here) would be my choice...
All those extras including a jacket!

try get the lowest k one (convert any in miles). The carbs wear & they can be a pain. Ignore the non running one, probably parked as running badly.

ok for a while. I grew to hate mine, but don't let that put you off. Do a search there has been a bit written about them on this site including some tips from Riffer & myself.

Thanks for the comments so far. I appreciate your time.
The one in Honda Hamilton does look good, but is priced well outside my budget.
Will be in Auckland tomorrow, so might take the chance to look at the red/silver one there.

Further comments still welcome!
