Let's face it, penguins don't usually live out long happy years into retirement and the chances are that 'Happy Caviar Feet' is very likely to get chomped within a few hours of being released. Especially as he has now grown used to being fed.
It's called nature/the food chain/the circle of life/the natural order.
Sharks see seals in the same light as seals see penguins.
Brutal, but a fact of a life for sea creatures.

Trans-tasman perspective - there's a big shitfight over here about shooting a Magpie that keeps swooping and injuring people.
Didn't go over well when I suggested that smashing the fucker with a cricket bat instead would be more sporting.

You Aussies have it tough
Wild pigs rooting your national parks (literally) ? - Don't you DARE hunt them...
Wild pigs invading people having a picnic? - again, no hunting.
Sheesh, wild pigs were put onto this earth to hunt - why else would they be there.
Mind you gun ownership is pretty low over there - and most animals ain't allowed to be shot. (It's a wonder our ducks don't fuck off over there each duck-shooting season - they're not allowed to be shot over in Aussie.
But you weather is mostly warmer so you've got that on us.:D

Possibly,,,last I heard was some DOC bloke saying the transmiter had probably just fallen off as it was only glued on,,,an here's me thinking they used nails.
Anyway if this is the case then I guess Happy meals turned it off first,,or it simply doesn't transmit from inside a great white.:bye:

Incorrect. An emperor peguin doesn't actually have that many predators and the chances of meeting one where the singal stopped transmitting is not high. Leopard seals don't get anywhere near that far north at this time of year.
The transmitter used is designed to fall off at some point, it seems to have done so earlier than expected. This is by far the most likely senario.

Ha! I fired a gun once - in 1978 and I owned the Buell for 5 years and all I did to it was paint the windscreen.
Might upgrade the fork springs on the KLR though. :-)
