Bloody hell - a lot of DNF's in that race !
A few 675's and Duc 848's in there (although only one 675 finished and no Duc's)

Ummmm, call me a cunt and all that, and nothing against Dom, but as I read those results, he was the last place finisher.

That's good how?

Bloody fantastic effort to even qualify over there in my opinion!

Pretty sure he was racing at Laguna Seca in 07 at the GP when I was there. He rides really well.

Hey Chop. How many other New Zealanders are doin better than him in the northern hemisphere just lately? Dom gets this result with the tiniest of budgets and assistance. Uses old/used gear, sleeps in van and lives on sandwiches A lot less than many people here bring to a club day

Grumph
5th September 2011, 13:17
Amen to that - and he had the guts and gumption to get off his arse and go over there....

Fucken oath mate, I know and follow Doms results pretty closely. Especially when he was on the Superbike, great stuff to see. Doin' it far better than I could ever hope to, that's for sure.

Whatever!
He needs a bloody haircut, some shoes and to pull up his pants!!!!!!

:innocent:

Oh and maybe a manager/gopher/mechanic/suspension tech/repairer/etc?.........

By the way Dom, if you are at any meetings where USGPRU are running, go say gidday to Stu Aitken-Cade who runs the USGPRU (did I recall that you already met him in the past??).
I had a couple o' beers with him when he was down here last month.
Genuinely nice guy, for an Air Force wonk that is, and has racing in his DNA and now has NZ on his radar.

Chop? wot was I on about? I meant WT. My real point is, regardless of whether Dom "has what takes" or not, he's the only kiwi in recent times who has dedicated his every hour to going back overseas to do what he loves. You did well Dom, and if you feel there's much better to come, then great!

Yeah, and I'm a bit one eyed, I've been sponsoring him for about 26 years now....

Same! its cool being able to say "I know that guy!", or I beat him once.

cos he was on a 125

Hows the riding level over there Dom, is it as good as you have seen in the past?
If you have time can you give us a small budget of what a round costs, ie entry, practice fees, licence, tyres, fuel etc...

The riding level in the AMA in DSB (600cc) is crazy high! Sometimes you have freight trains of 8 guys going for the win on the last lap. There are 10 or so guys that could win a race on any given day.

The last two guys I know who went to Europe and raced in World Supersport did pretty good.... Josh Hayes was top 5 and Chris Peris (when he was a lot younger) was placing 1/2 to 2/3rds of the way back.

Last year we were at Mid-Ohio doing a trackday and Brett McCormick, PJ Jacobsen and Cory West were there..... all young kids.... all seriously fast. McCormick was just insane to watch.

Dom... good on you.

BTW, I hope you never have to race at Mid-Ohio in the rain... talk about an ICE RINK!!! They have that GAY epoxy coating on the corners to help keep the asphalt from degrading and it makes that track super slick in the wet.

Peris has raced all over the place.... I vaguely remember something about him going to either Australia or New Zealand..... can't remember.

One race here in Canada was funny. He crashed twice and still won. :D It was in the wet.

No, he came out to crash a lot and wreck bikes going by what I saw

Ya he's pitched a few. But look at Carlos Checa ... he was once known as the careless chucker. :D

Hey, I'm in 100% agreement mate, and you and Dom can both be proud of what he's achieving and the effort he's putting in. Above all that, he's a thoroughly likeable cunt too.

Total damage cost of $25-000 NZ less $ 10-000 supplied by his dad.

He can ride, but only when he stays on it seems!

Some one involved in this thread told me NOT to take him on:yes:

almost funny for a cow fuker

not a joke Shaun...his stas were fantastic that season in northern hemisphere that year.

The stats on Chris’ finishes are no secret, and although he was the best “Non-18-Wheeler-Guy”, with no US factory support, (up until the last two rounds) we decided in the last two rounds to throw caution to the wind and the team told Chris, “Just go for it”. If we finished 5th overall or 10th overall in points, we didn’t care. Only winners show up in the record books!

Chris had raced in 42 races (17 race weekends) and up until the last two AMA rounds he had completed 41, the one race that he didn’t finish was due to a rare mechanical failure, (while he was running in 3rd in FX and looked like he would get his first podium) which is totally beyond anyone’s control.

What ever, certain people at this end Know exactually! what happened here

Watched all the races live. Probably the best I've seen for a long time. As someone else said in this thread, 8 to 10 bike freight trains and anyone of them could win and this was in 600's and Superbikes. Lots of young guys are looking good. Cameron Beaubier and Tommy Aquino are a couple of up and commers worth watching.
