Received a ticket for "Failing to stop short of another vehicle" when I crashed my car. It was fair enough I thought, considering the alternatives. Just a tad gutting at the time as my car was destroyed, and my excess to get the other cars fixed was $900.

speed, speed, speed, speed, wof, reg, speed, speed, speed, speed, speed
Gives an idea of ratios.
Back in the days too I got warnings for restricted with passengers in car & not wearing 'L' plate on bike. Oh and arrested for wearing my motorbike helmet.

Hmmmm 7 odd tickets, four for speed and three for other reasons (two for failing to stop within... Blah blah blah and one for no current rego.)
The two important points on this of course are that i speed more than i run into the back of other people or drive without rego and that it doesnt count the countless speed camera fines which would have easily doubled the speed numbers.

Bike tickets - only ever three plus one warning:
First two came when I was a beginner rider - viz: Failing to keep left on a corner and wrong class of license. Both at the same time. I'd had the bike about three days IIRC. 1968.
Later: Warning for crossing a railway crossing before the bells had stopped. The cop was right beside me. The barriers came up and I went through - about two seconds before the bells stopped. Copper was incredibly angry and roared and snorted about it for about five minutes non-stop. And then gave me a warning. I think he must've had menstrual cramps...1974.
Later still: Speeding x1. I was testing the ignition timing on my Benelli Supersport 250 on the straight just east of Maungaturoto. Local copper was hiding behind the milk factory and bloody got me down the straight. Bastard. Lucky for him his kid wasn't in my class at the school...1975.
No more since then. :innocent: Which means I am either a) really law abiding, b) really lucky or c) really cunning. You choose which...

Obtained my licence in 1972 and have now done just over 1,100,000km on NZ roads.
1974 Speeding x 2
1975 Speeding x 1
1978 Speeding x 1
1987 Speeding x 1
1991 Speeding x 1
1999 Speeding x 1
2009 Speeding x 1
All tickets except the 1999 one were for less than 18km over the posted limit, 1999 was for over by 21km.
Was regularly pulled over between 1988 and 2007 because my personalised plate was always misread by the Police - and so had my licence checked, WOF and Registration inspected at least twice a year and I would give them a polite lesson on how to read a zero or an 0 on a personalised motorcycle plate. Always good for a smile!

You've got failed to give way and failing to stop at a stop sign lumped together, but there is a big difference between the two. Failing to give way will invariably lead to a crash, or evasive action needing to be taken. Failing to stop at a stop sign doesn't, particularly as many stop signs don't actually meet the visibility requirements needed to put them in. A bit like speeding in a way. Comply or else. Even if a stop sign does meet the requirements, if you are in a truck or bus or on a motorbike you can sometimes see past the obstruction causing the restricted visibility, so should you be bound by the stop sign?
And after that rant, you'll have guessed that my only ticket is for failing to stop at a stop sign. One that was put up and enforced to appease residents. I didn't complain at the time though, in fact when the cop told me what I'd done I nearly kissed him. I thought he'd got me for something I did approaching the stop sign which would have resulted in quite a lengthy period having to catch the bus with the poor people.

Dangerous Driving x1 (Arrested, 2 hours of hard time hehe)
Speeding Tickets x 8-9 ish, plenty of warnings (thanks radar detector), lost license couple times due to demerits
No WOF/REG x 2
Failure to stop short (car was a lot shorter though)
Exceeding 90kph with a trailer (on my way to a track day, as quite a few people noticed)
Got caught on a Dealer Plate for a fresh import, got off the ticket, but it turns out you still need the WOF / VIN done before the D plate can be used.

Arrested because of dangerous driving, or because of your attitude?
I don't think it was an Attitude thing - I was driving at a stupid speed, and racing another car weaving through traffic. He asked me 2 questions "How fast were you going?" - "Not sure but definitely too quick" , "Were you racing the Skyline?" - "Yes".
He walked away, came back 5 minutes later and stated he was doing 150kph and I was pulling away (I honeslty wasnt sure how fast I was going), and told me I was under arrest for dangerous. The guys at the Police station seemed surprised as well. The cop was a Heavy Vehicle Officer in a ute so I had no idea when or where I passed him.
The really cool part was after my court hearing I found a hand delivered envelope in the mailbox with a ticket for No Wof, no reg and incorrect number plate mounting. This was after telling the judge I received no tickets at the time so she gave me a hefty fine to make up for it. Felt hard done by, but wasn't worth the stress so just carried on driving, and paid the fines off at $25 a week (which I had been for the last year or so anyway so didnt notice).
I was early 20's so it was par for the course at the time.

I would have been classed as a boy racer in my younger days, I never got into the boozing and burnouts, or doing laps of the main street etc. But had a real problem with a heavy right foot. I'm not much better on the bike these days, but seem to be able to choose time/place a lot better, or have just been lucky.

Front got light but no wheelie. There was a silver commy behind me tho that I failed to notice. Then wahaa. red and blue lights. I pulled over and mr plod gets out and walks over. Checks me, checks the bike, the license. Usual b/s. Then asks me if I am in a hurry or just playing around. I said, well, I let the clutch too quick and the front got light, but then I realised and backed right off. He gave me a warning and before walking off said that next time i will get a fine for "Driving in a manner likely to cause annoyance". I looked around and asked him, who am I likely to annoy when there isin't anyone around. He said that it would be him.

No, it's been in for years.
And Unnecessary Display of Acceleration it's called, must be linked to another offence (speeding, lights not on, failing to indicate whatever - it's complicated, look it up or call into your local cop-shop and speak to somebody in the know - not all cops know about it properly)

All travel had to be work related, but the judge and police commented it was one of the most relaxed ones they had granted. I could travel 6 days a week, throughout greater Auckland (I provided a map and boundaries, anywhere from Papakura to Coatesville ish) between 9am and midnight. One bike only, all trips logged.
I was naughty a couple of times, getting home just after midnight (once because I'd forgotten my paperwork, and had to carry it at all times), but on the whole, I couldn't risk losing that, so pretty much obeyed it to the letter. Each sheet I made logged 30 trips. I used up 10 sheets in 10 weeks. Occasionally, I would grab a subway or something en-route between places...

Most of the above… And then some.
Put it this way, my last fine was a court imposed $1000 and I only just kept my licence.
So happy I sped on the way home.
I learnt nothing!

Speed 126km/h on my old 250 trying to pass a long line of cars and a bus (guess who was sitting behind the bus in a mufti), then warning from a very nice lady, Radar detector saved me from a few just over the limit ones and then lazed @132km/h but I honestly thought I was only going 120 max. Now hoping to never get another one as I cant afford the fuel to go that fast.:scooter: Otherwise I try and follow all the other rules and keep my nose clean.

Only one speeding ticket on the bike - although as I braked to pull over I locked up the front end in the wet and slid down the road  - all in front of the cop who did a good job of at least trying to keep a straight face:woohoo: Very embarrassing but just showed that not only was I speeding but I was also going too fast for the conditions....and I thought I was perfect:innocent:

We both know there are no schools in Christchurch.
I mean.. that IS the reason NCEA people get free passes this year right...

Only the seatbelt one isn't bogen-esque. Bet he wears a Triumph knitted jumper, and collects Ewan Gilmour t-shirts.

8.11am, empty road as usual and no kids. Just a shiny red Ducati.
Went past today at the same time, no kids, no traffic (and no cameras). No kids in the school paddock either. To tell you the truth, I wouldn't have slowed down if I had seen the camera. I thought it had to be in high use times.
Hell, I've even been passed on my bike by a car fed up with my 55kph post earthquake stuffed road speed on the same road! Yes, very very embarrassing!

plenty for no reg/warrant in my younger days, interesting enough I had no speeding tickets for 10 years of driving then I had
-2002 83 in 50
-2002 62 in 50
-2003 117 in 100 (motorway)
then I got a radar detector and since then I have had one ticket
-2008 137 in 100 (motorway)
I have had many close calls but the V1 has saved me. And I have had 8 warnings....More warnings than tickets, weird
(in a total of 18 years driving)
