How many km do you normally end up traveling? Roughly.
How hard is it to finish in under 24 hours?

1000 miles is 1609.3 km. In order to ensure that a genuine 1000 miles have been travelled we try and make it between 1630 and 1640 km.
In order to complete it within 24 hours you need to average at least 69 kmh. It has been done on a 125cc. Most riders take around the 18 - 22 hour mark, but it has been completed at speeds that are impossible while remaining legal. To stop it being a race we have changed the rules slightly so that anyone travelling at more than 100 kmh moving average speed will arrive at the checkpoints before they are open. We tried this last year and found it made the ride more enjoyable and less a race.
Two riders last year realised that the ride went past their homes, and stopped for a few hours sleep. They still made the 24 hours with ease.
This is not a ride for learners as it takes lots of road sense, and you must know your bike perfectly. However any moderately skilled rider who prepares themself and their bike will find it an enjoyable ride.

 Well based on my question "How many km..." I now look like an idiot.
In my defense I had been awake since 2am yesterday.
I will try to keep my idiocy to myself next time.
