View Full Version : Rant ON!

OK ya'll, this is specifically for the law minded peops on KB...but all input welcome re this wee rant.

Scenario-this evening i walk into Clendon New World Manurewa, going in for miscellaneous goods of the munchy variety and in less than half a minute accosted by the ol chodja pseudo security guy (who despises me from a previous 'incident') who has an issue with me and my medium sized back pack. Ignoring him i continued grabbing my stuff and head to the counter, meanwhile old guys grabbed the younger security dude, who follows me and tries to cite store policy-which is...check the pack with them i.e leave it with them at the unattended front counter (no way in goddam hell-fricken thieves the lot of them) or leave it on the bike (its Clendon Rewa at night no goddam way am i doing that as it'll be gone the minute my backs turned). I respond that they can do a bag search before i exit as the whole policy and exercise is geared toward nabbing shoplifters - thieves. Anyhoo, they're not having a bar of it and want my bag pronto...i refuse and argue the points..ie breach of civil liberties citing unreasonable search, that i resent the inference and presumption that i am a criminal because I知 dressed in my bike gears (carrying helmet) with pack in tow, cite the guard (old fart) having a personal vendetta and so being discriminatory, cite harassment and the inconsistent application of store policy relating to bags. They claim to have notices up at the entrance and inside the store-they do but it relates to hoodies and school bags? Being that I知 in my thirties, i don't have a school bag but a small riding pack. They target me for my back pack but not the countless women (yes i am a lady biker to) with fricken handbags bigger than mine, people with baby bags and buggies walking past the whole fracas. SO...belabouring the point gets me REFUSED service and or custom AND 'verbally trespassed' supposedly, from my local New World; young security guy unable to handle me and my big words calls police who fob him off, i take down details (manager, guards, witnesses, time) and am highly agitated by the whole ridiculous situation. Complying with the guards request but under duress, i gap it home to ring the cops, who tell me the verbal trespass is a legally grey area as the wording is vague and open to spurious interpretation, being that security dude didn't take down any details-silly male just wanted the argumentative female to leave. I left when asked but seeing as I知 a bitch on wheels, literally, am going to do a number on this one. Approach the owner as well as the Regional Manager of NW Enterprises, Human Rights Commission, seek Legal Advice and make this plea.

S.O.S to ALL bikers within koowie of this establishment...i heartily encourage y'all to pay a friendly visit to said supermarket sporting a back pack...would luv to see them handle a fricken store full of bikers with flippen back packs...num nut organisation, they have fussed with the wrong bloody female goddam them! Though i realise this is basically a storm in a teacup and that I知 ranting, i am just so mad, i take this as a personal affront. Guard told me i didn't need to shop there and that i needn't come back...idiot. It痴 the closest supermarket with 1km of home, I知 a local and have shopped there 20 plus years. I've even gone in with a pack when in non bike clothes and there's never been a problem, so WTF man? Has anyone else had this happen to them or have a legal background they can draw on to elucidate..

When you've calmed down, why not simply have a chat to the manager?

1. They can ask to look in your bag, they can also choose not to serve you.

2. a verbal tresspass CAN be enforced, Ive done it many times when doing security at bars.

3. If you decided to make all the 'citings' you say you did in your port, you probably came across as a know-it-all fuckwit.

If you really feel aggreived, write a letter to the management of said premises, asking for clarification of their bag search policies.
:innocent:
I highly doubt they have the legal right to demand you leave your bag with them, but they are probably well entitled to ask to look through it.

Bottom line though, really? if you have issues there, go to another fucking supermarket.:bye:

and and for fuck sakes, use paragraphs!

Shop with your feet and take your money with you. Think of how much money they are not going to get from you over the next twenty years.
I once had a gas station treat me badly so stopped going there. It was not far from my work at the time so I had to go past it to get gas. Every time I smiled to myself. At that time I was spending $1200 a month on fuel.
My point is they had you as a customer so it's their loss.

That is ridiculous that they caused such a fuss - a simple look in your bag at the check out would have been all that was needed surely???
God, I shop at my local supermarket and use my helmet as the basket as it is easier than carrying the basket. I have never had any problems.
Do a written complaint to the manager and request a response, and then shop elsewhere - what a bunch of cocks. They could have handled this a lot better, there was no need for them to go on the attack when a simple polite request would have done. All they had to do was blame company policy and pretend to be embarrased that they had to ask you.
Easy, I do it all the time with unpaid accounts at work - you sympathise and blame upper management.

Just find another supermarket.

I used to go almost daily, to a certain supermarket and I would park the motorbike next to the bike stands right in front of the window for all of the 5 minutes I was there, great place to park your motorbike, not in anybodys way, in clear view of the store so secure etc. I'd done that for at least a year, maybe 2. Then one day they told me I was not allowed to park there, that I had to put my motorcycle in a car park bay like the cars.

I turned around, and never went back to that supermarket again.

I know people have complained about it being a wall of text, but it's not that hard to read and if you have you would have seen that she was willing for them to check her bag, she just didn't want to leave it with them while she shopped and was against herself as a biker being singled out

I deal with people like you on a day to day basis,
Its not always a case of every man and his dog having a bag, its a case of people doing shifty things, trying to keep an eye on security or what have you, its dodge as fuck,
the fact you say you have done something before which got you in strive with one of the guards, That alone would make me suspect you of something,

Maybe you should just allow them to search your bag, What could you possibly have that they haven't seen before, You could have asked to speak the manager directly, or deal with the duty manager, and you could have opted to do it in the privacy of an office,

And as for

S.O.S to ALL bikers within koowie of this establishment...i heartily encourage y'all to pay a friendly visit to said supermarket sporting a back pack...would luv to see them handle a fricken store full of bikers with flippen back packs..
How about you stop making a mountain out of an ant hill. You can spout your rights to people, but they can simply refuse you service and they can indeed issue you and enforce a verbal trespass.
They too have rights, not to mention it is their store, not yours.

Not quite, she refused to let them search her bag when "they wanted to" and said they could do it before she left

The whole issue could have been sorted out there and then but she chose to be difficult about it and create more of a problem than there needed to be

Had everything to do with it.

Shit. The signs are there when you walk in, no backpacks. So they decide to enforce it against someone who has given them grief before and clearly has an attitude. Boo hoo. Go to Countdown. Unless she has been trespassed from there already.

You can edit posts so that if you want to add stuff in you don't have to repost. Although you might already know that. Thanks for adding the extra text - it was really helpful.

I generally avoid heading down to Clendon but I did used to work at the mall when it first opened up back in the mid 80's and it was rather nice (even if completely deserted of customers). I even have photos of the medical centre when it was being built! My doc is in the medical centre down there and that's pretty much the only reason I head out to the wild wild west there.

I occasionally grab a few items on the way home, tank bag slung over shoulder, nervous as a cat on hot bricks and this at a Pak n Save where they encourage you to use your own bags and even sell you them.
Suspect history, security attitude and approach method had a lot to do with Ops problems. Personally I would find somewhere else to shop if i was OP

Ironic wailing about your civil rights being breached while claiming it's unfair for a private property owner to exercize their perfectly legal right to tresspass you from their premises because you arrogantly don't feel you should have to abide by the terms and conditions they set.

In short you are wrong, and trying to seek legal redress over a situation your arrogance and temper caused is completely and utterly laughable.

For those who'll enjoy the drama & the update. Beware of females like me.

Virago-wanting to widen the response catchment so posted in multiple forums a day apart, some of them were bounced...go figure.

idb-Duty Manager was befuddled and got no joy there, they refused to give me the contacts of the Overall Manager and so got an advocate to get them & a week later he rang me to mediate; me and mine are still in 'discussion'.

tigertimzo-i have no probs with bag search upon exit (can you not read), am aware of enforcibility cos i'm not a hillbilly & am well acquainted with security being that the men in my famz work security. FYI i'm not a fuckwit but a bitch who no bastard trifles with much less fuctard security guys power tripping. In Clendon, letters don't do jack-we do action. Now, i'm a placid and rational lady & conduct myself with decorum...until i'm trifled with. Bottomline, the hap-hazard application of their policy is unacceptable as was the un-intelligent handling of the situation. Why the fuck should i have to shop elsewhere i was here when that place opened. Look, not being an idiot i realise the reality of the sitch. Oh they're happy to take custom from low socio economic sectors (my community) as long as they get to dictate the rules, their rules suck...as for paragraphing-wake the fuck up retard, tis a rant & i gave fair warning, it's why i posted here...did u skip reading comprehension as a youngen? You wanna stoush, then BRING IT> i deal with halfwits and drongos on a daily basis and i'll give you a serve anytime sonny jim. OH BTW FAIR GO NEXT WEEKS EPS>

Ronin-they routinely have bags stolen from the bag check in front, hence my distrust of leaving gears there. They also don't back up camera footage, they're for show.

Baron-with everything i've got at my disposal inc all my contacts, they're having massive headaches at the moment, next on my wish list is a backpack 'flash mob' flooding their establishment & watching the chaos that ensues. Popcorn anyone?

Wainui-i think i love you, you're an intelligent one aye..wink!

Kickaha-Grow some balls you fricken PUSSY. Nobody shits on me and gets away with it. I was the calm and rational one, twas the cocks sporting security tags who didn't take well to being challenged by a chick with balls. Some men can't handle womanhood on turbocharge, others love IT...I'm the kinda woman that if the system aint workin for me, then i change it-i don't meekly comply. I'm results orientated.

Drunkenmistake-no, the old bugga has a case of mistaken ID re me, apparently us Horis all look alike. Prior incident involved him demanding to search my bag before i entered the supermarket & telling me to leave my helmet which i was carrying not wearing-outside. There were other comments made by the senior security guy that suggests to me he has an issue with bikers specifically. Anyhoo, your prejudice is showing. Yes i live in Clendon, its low socio but that don't mean i'm a dodgy thieving fuck and i resent the label. There are 2 kinds of people; those who get shit on & lap it up and those who say FUCK NO. I know it's a losing battle, but there's method in my madness and a point to be made.

Indoo-Flippin you the Bird my ignorant self indulgent 'friend'...they're happy to make a shitload off me and my fellow criminalised patrons & anyone who queries getting treated like crap by default becomes public enemy #1. Tone & manner of approach is a key component of my gripe. It isn't arrogant sticking up for ones self, it's called self assertion-be a sheep if you want to & stay in your comfy bubble world you luddite rectal muncha. Your subliminal intelligence & willingness to assume the position is what's LAUGHABLE>

But can kinda see the funny side and the correlates of channelling that kind of anger. FATWA on supermarket security collywobbles hahahaha!!!!! No way in hell am i converting to Islam, no disrespect.

Gremlin-i think we've met, serious rider if i recall. Don't get me wrong, i do in fact grasp the not so subtle nuance of entry compliance in regards to private property/establishments and yet i take serious umbrage to my sitch. LOOK Shit happens and doesn't take a genius to surmise that YEAP inevitable i'll have to suck this one up, but see here痴 the thing-i'm the kind who'll take this to a whole other level and make this excruciating for the focus party. If it takes me years to make a point then it takes me years; i have the means and the mental acuity to give those deserving fuckers a serve, irrespective of private property legalities. They may be within their rights; likewise i am within my rights to marshal opposition and vent it. What form that opposition takes is where it gets interesting now doesn't it.

Berries-yeah i get it, in the scheme of things this is a nothing case compared to some of the stories that feature on Fair Go. Sets a bit of perspective ha. I'm not a total donut even if i am a mean tempered woman.

Wainui-i think i love you, you're an intelligent one aye..wink!

nodrog-no, my handgun you TROG

Oracle & Hello Kitty-YES yes YES!!!! Cock complex in action=shit bomb, PrincessBandit i'll prob end up doing just that but in the meantime i'm great at subversion.

Meh - as a follow up rant I give it 5/10.
Must try harder....

I can sympathise with how you feel. I would feel similar.

But remember this - it is their private property. Just like you can choose who to allow to come into your home they can choose who to allow to come in their shop.

I think they just sent a strong signal they don't want you in there shop - so just take your business elsewhere. It's not worth the fight. :)

Tilting at windmills.
It's a common enough condition of shopping and you're on private property.
Get over it.

Oscar-i have no choice but it aint in my nature to forgive nor forget. I'm a roast and toast kinda gal. IT'll keep..

P.Dath-must you always make so much goddam sense you bloody perspective giver...hearing ya, and yeah, they sent a clear message-time for me to engineer a little social rebellion and send my own little message..after which i'll gladly shop at their competition. Think the message will apply to anyone deemed dodgy from the get go, ah well, sucks to be me. Hope they have an unfortunate security alarm/malfunction on the doors afterhours, sos they get cleaned out by the real local criminals, that there would be devine providence and just desserts. One can only hope. That and a backpack flash mob hitting their store...that'd be funny as.
