James Toseland has announced immediate (http://www.jamestoseland.com/news/752/A_letter_to_my_fans.aspx) retirement due to his wrist injury. Two time world superbike champion (2004 & 2007) and just 30 years old and otherwise fit as a fiddle. This is a great shame. At his peak he was a brilliant rider. Aggressive and spectacular to watch. Unfortunately he wasted 2 of his best years on a shit bike at Tech3 Yamaha otherwise he may have won further championships at WSBK.

Shit bike? really? Spies had no problem with it.

Mr Toseland was also quoted at the end of the 2009 season when him and Mr Spies swapped seats as saying that what Ben acheived that season wasn't really that spectacular.

Personally, I think he was gifted the two WSBK crowns through lack of competition rather than brilliant riding.

Spies is a better rider I admit... But Two world championships on two different makes - gifted ?

As good as he was (can't be a world champ a couple of times without being good), he wasn't quite as good as he thought he was.

That's what I meant to say. No doubt the man's a gifted racer and twice world champion sets him up there with the best in terms of results.

Retired because he hurt his little piano playing hand. This is just the excuse he needed. Has been shit for a long time now. Nothing wrong with Tech 3 setup as Spies proved, even James started not to bad when he first went there but when the going gets tuff the tuff get going and the rest just moan and then quit. Obvious which one he is:facepalm:

I thought he ran faster lap times than Spies did the previous year on the Tec 3 bike.
Bike was totally different too, fuel tank in the proper place etc.

Sad to be retired at that age due to injury.

Irrespective of whether he is a ''nancy boy'' or otherwise he got there, won a world championship. You guys didnt. ( I dont like him anymore than I dont like Stoner but there are reasons they got there and became world champions )

He sounded like he wanted to root Spies as well. That commentator is the main reason why I canceled sky sports subscription.

Jamie Whitham and Jack Burnicle are fucking awesome.

Is that because the moment you go face down in the kitty litter, you suddenly become a dead ringer for Toseland:devil2:

Succinctly put RT, alot of these key board warriors could be right up there 'doing it' if only they could race a qwerty and sponsored by HP

A talented, likable lad who rode with some terrible injuries in the past (like many others) but sadly cant get over this injury.

He drives me insane, talks such a lot of shit - like he hasn't got a clue, but year in and year out, still he's there baaaaaabling away.

I didn't like Toseland prior to meeting him - then he turned out to be really nice, but we all know what happens to Mr Nice Guy. Sad way to finish up but.

Sad to see him retire, he looked like he was almost getting the hang of that BMW in his last couple of races too. Shame we never got to see the best of him on the WSBK Yamaha. While he might come across as a bit of a nancy boy, he certainly has had a pretty difficult time in his life. Had a tough life as a kid and then when he first got to Europe he rode in the same Castrol Honda team as Colin Edwards but rode the 600, in his first year with the team as a 17 (?) his Italian team mate was killed :gob: mustve been pretty tough to come through that.
