So, I wanna get back into racing. I had a ball riding the RF at round 1 of the Actrix series and did considerably better than anyone (including myself) expected.
That got me thinking, and I concluded that I ride really well on a heap of shit that moves around and wobbles a bit.
So post classics is the obvious best class for me to run.
So who's got an half rooted FZR1000/750, ZXR750, GSXR1100/750 or similar in their shed they'd swap a halfway tidy road legal RF900 for?
I'll look at anything that runs really, I'm not fussy.

If ya swap the RF for Jimmy's CBR1000F, I would swap my 750j for that. It's not half rooted though, probably too tidy for you.

Edit; I don't mind if something is tidy, I'll still tun it into a race bike.
we worked that out years agoYeah, I call you a friend after all.

Still trying to decide whether the '82 GPZ750 I bought the other day will be a doer upper or a postie.

Your call Drew, picked it up with similar intentions and been sitting far too long !
If you wanna take the punt and do a swap, Can't say if it's mint or stink (was told by previous that it's mint) but he ripped the carbs to bits and recons they needed kitting out !
Just had the carbs reassembled by Dave Freeman and was gonna take it up the club as a race project for us to do up ! Throw the carbs back in etc and see if we could get it to run and then start looking at whats needed !
I can leave the RF stored till you have spent a few hours assembling the 750 and seeing if it's a go ! If it aint, we can swap it back and all ya lose is a few hours of ya time and i get the carbs put in the bike for me lol !
Someone has raced it so i am told, extra bracing has been welded in a few spots (to stop flex apparently)
The RF would be put to good use hehehe as a rat bike for the club to use for burnouts and hill climbs etc at rallys !

85 Slabby would be cool as a period repro bike I reckon. Not very competitive in pre-89 Senior though

I was more concerned at the prospect of the much faithful RF being turned into a paddock hack.:shit:

So do I, which makes me wonder if some have been brainwashed by the expensive suspension brigade into believing that is a bad thing.
Wobbly bikes tell you what theyre thinking nice & early, I like that!!

I thought the same thing for a long time, now I think more that it's apples and oranges.
When I first got on modern stuff, I figured that if I pushed it hard enough it would start behaving the same as an old bike, just at higher pace. To an extent that's true, but you also get less time to react to it doing so.
I feel really average now, by my own admission I can't react to flash stuff quick enough. Shoulda spent more time learning to ride them I guess.

Take the lights out and race it yourself, our cousin had one down south and did really well.
I'd rather go pre '89 senior at the moment, but I could be keen if nothing else pans out.

Is that because you'd rather crash at higher speeds?

Are you aware that the posties peeps are changing the classes from senior and junior to the formula equivalents of the day? F1, F2, and F3 but Pre 89 rules. The rumour I heard was that this would rule the 450cc fours out of Pre 89 F3. I don't actually know if this is true but heard it from a PCRA technical guy.

That'd be cool. The FZR400/600 would be the best F2 bike if it still only had to be period rather than a production bike. My understanding was that it was done quite a bit back in the day.

Fucks sake Banks, I think that lack of hair has resulted in a frozen brain during the winter. On what planet do you and Duke Nukim actually think you'll finish ahead of me? And practicing? You do know I've never even ridden a bucket don't you?
You sill old poofters are going to be wondering what the hell you signed up for come Sunday :bleh:

Heh. If I had a certd 600 in the deltabox it would be turbo'd by now. Best little combo that. Almost as good as the ol' 7-11 combo's Suzuki have.

This is starting to get messy, I swap the RF for a 400, then swap that with you.
I'm really after a pre '89 bike bro. You should get well enough for the GSX to fund a good 400.
