They have been saying that for years,Until people accept it they will keep saying it

The first question I was asked when I did my practical drivers licence was "who is responsible when your driving"??

Answer-"I am"

But somewhere along the way the focus has been moved from driver responsibilty to bad road conditions are causing crashes,

Guess its easier for people too blame the enviroment that surrounds them, rather than own up too the fact that they f__ked up

Too right! I'm shocked with the driving I've seen since moving up here. Every intersection is a crash waiting to happen as drivers completely ignore the arrows at roundabouts, never indicate and heaven forbid you be courteous round here either!

I thought Porirua drivers were pretty bad, but the shit that happens in the Waikato drives me mental. I fear for my own safety frequently and am constantly frustrated as the car I thought was going straight through at a roundabout (i.e right lane) cuts across in front of me.

Morrinsville/Cambridge Road intersection is the worst, drivers seem to all assume they can take any lane to take any exit.

Don't knock the article, it didn't mention or blame motorcyclists at all!

Lots of drivers in Auckland are so self-absorbed in their own world it's a wonder there aren't waaaay more accidents than there are. Most give a great impression of believing that they're the only important person on the road on their way to an important appointment in their large space hogging transportation devices and blinkers attached (to avoid seeing all those pesky cyclists, motorcyclists and pedestrians).

Ouch.

but I'll stick by that - I see atrocious driving every day while out and about. Then, toss in less-than-ideal-weather conditions and ... nothing changes!!! (still drive as badly)
