Having a coach with mental illness sounds crazy to me

Depression.org see ya there!

SBW? not convinced yet, cant really call that a show brilliance against a team like Japan.

I fell asleep, and missed a fair portion but yea the japs played pretty well. 60 odd points better than a couple of world cups ago.

Kirwan looked ok, obviously a few things annoyed him but thats rugger.

Yeah, such a difference from the happy happy face all the other coaches always put on.

G. Henry sometimes looks like he's sucking a lemon, even after a win.

The JK being depressed thing occured to me too and I had a wee guilty chuckle about it but I guess he's more able to deal with it than anyone else whose team gets a sore bottom. Great that their try got the biggest cheer of the night.

+1 would love to have seen that little behind the back pass come off too.

The Japanese should be proud of that effort last night, a huge improvement (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Records_and_statistics_of_the_Rugby_World_Cup) over the 1995 result and their try will probably stand out as one of the most memorable of the tournament.

I think SBW is on the right track although I agree with maha, he now needs to deliver the goods against some credible opposition.

Have to agree that Japan played well. Structured, disciplined and organised at all times. AND they didn't come to pieces when the shit hit the fan. AND they chanced their collective arm at every opportunity. Very well played - most improved team at the tournament so far.

TBH I have watched quite a few of these games and at times have been sorry that one team had to lose. USA vs Russia being one such but others as well.

John Kirwan has suffered from depression. So have I. So have heaps of others. It doesn't make you incapable (or crazy) Scissorhands - it's quite possible to get over it. No different from having a cold or the flu. But then I guess you were making a funny, yes?

Well he is after the AB coaching job so maybe he was hoping for a lesser result to make Graeme Henry look bad

Did anyone see him on The Nutters Show? He hogged the microphone big time, and raved and raved. Cut other talkers off, didnt listen, all me me, I I.

Who in their right mind would want a international team coach so full of himself?

Do narcissists make good coaches? I suppose he is helping Kiwis with depression? And getting them on a registrar and medication......

Pharmac must love the guy to death....

Watching rugby will have that effect on people (depression). Rugby watching can also cure even the worst cases of insomnia

Good on the mighty blossoms. Go Tonga. Also congratulations to the Irish.

Both these teams have done fantastically without big money, silly shirts that rip or all the who-haaa about being in the big three.
They should hold their heads up high.

They have achieve more per $ than the All Black with ever achieve. And as others have said before. You can mock Mr Kirwin all you like - but at least he has held a world cup and the countries pride in different hands at different times.
Current line-up are yet to prove that.
