So the moral of the story is to chuck a nice set of Savage badges on your GSXR.

Kawasaki Ninja  thats rather 'broad' as with CBR and other types.

Pity there aint no CC ratings on the stats! Would be interesting to see which one gets nicked (eg zx2r or zx7r etc) the most.

Harley Davidson FXR (what the f...) FXR?! *puzzled look*

GSXR etc is not exactly specific since there are 250/600/750/1000's. Maybe more get stolen to repair all the one's that crash.

The article simply said GSXR Series,Ninja Series.
It doesn't go into that much more detail.
Harley FXR =Their most popular an cheapest big block model in NZ.
Their are of course a heap of bikes not represented but these are their top 4/5 in these catagorys.

A police article on stolen bikes I've read pretty much agrees with that.

What?

Things were so much simpler in the 70's - Pom bikes got flogged, Jappas didn't. (and what few Hogleys there were in NZ wouldn't start, so neither crashing nor getting flogged was an issue)

*thought the only FXR's were Suzuki FXR150's*

Very interesting though :)

So that's what they mean by "ride it like you stole it".

See Lou or somebody with a H-D 'cattle-dog" and get them to show you the basic H-D types/models, it's a relatively logical system - more so than some of the Jap lines.

None of our bikes is featured there, but wouldn't it be great if this had some effect on your insurance premiums, in conjunction with your riding experience/previous accidents/claims, etc. "Oh, you ride a BMW F650CS - no one will steal that and they hardly ever feature in our crash statistics, so you can have really cheap insurance!" Yeah right!

Harley Designations
XL = Sportster range. eg. XL1200C
FL = Tourers. eg. FLHTCUI Electraglide Ultra Classic Injected
FX = Posing pouches (Cruisers). eg. FXDWG Dyna Wide Glide.

The most apt designation is FLHTRSI. A Road King Custom with pull back bars that are guaranteed to give you wrist ache.

No dirt bikes on the list? I see a lot of dirt bikes listed as stolen and a lot of motorcycle shops get cleaned out,of course most aren't registerd and just disapear.Just got an alarm fitted to house and shed last week, next I'll put down the anchor bolt to chain the bikes to.After so many years of British bikes and the worry of keeping them in my possesion,I guess I might be a little more aware of what needs to be done to secure your bike - plus I have never insured a bike,if I loose it it's gone .

As a point of interest, is this just which bike has the most number in total stolen, or is it based on the percentage of claims per X amount insured?

I think it was on numbers only.
So you could take it to mean there's just a shit load more GSXR'S out there.
