Today was a beautiful day for a ride.

I left Porirua and went into town with a view to ride around the bays. I dropped of the motorway at Aotea Quay and entered the bays at Oriental Bay followed it round down past the old naval base at Shelly bay and followed the bay round to Red Rocks.

It was time to start to head home, I went up through the Brooklyn down onto the motorway.

Dropped of the motorway and started up Nauranaga Gorge and because I was on a lower powered bike I moved into the left lane.

Low and behold I ran into a hippy van going slower than me so I checked my mirrors noticed a silver 4x4 in the far outside lane and made the decision to drop a gear indicate and then move to the centre lane.

Bugger me the 4x4 decided he wanted the centre lane as well. I had moved over he laid on his horn, still changing lanes no indicating and sitting hard on my back wheel.

This was a concern because he was close enough to be called a pillion passenger but had no helmet and my licence does not allow me to carry a pillion.

I was polite I checked my mirrors noticed him there gave him the nice friendly kiwi 1 finger wave and slowed down.

Once I was happy that he was sufficiently blocked in and lost his revs I dropped another gear and carried on.

I took my turn off at the top of the gorge into Johnsonville and could see that is where the 4x4 also wanted to go because he suddenly found his indicator.

Unfortunately the traffic was heavy the lane was full, and like they say ‘shit happens’ he couldn’t make the lane change and missed his turn off.

This devastated me as I was very keen to get off my bike and (again) politely introduce myself to him.

Who knows maybe next time, still a great day for a ride. :devil2:  :p

who let you onto the polo ground???

Wanted to go for a ride myself today (nice weather in Aucks) but alas I have a slow leak in my rear. Tyre that is. Flat as a pancake. Should be able to hold enough pressure to get to the workshop for a replacement though. Currently on Pilot2's so going to try out the replacement Pilot3's.

Awesome day to ride today.

Saw quite a few bikers around.

Went over the haywards and then back over again. Sneaky police car hiding on a blind corner.

Don't get in the habit of playing games with the other traffic.

At the end of the day you're the one most likely to lose.

I started off on a GN250, but a mobility van wrecked it.

I'm not as badass as the OP.
