Getting rid of my DR250 collection, how should I sell 'em on trademe?

S model is still not running reliably enough for me to bother WOFing it (sometimes starts, sometimes...not) but rego is on hold and has had a literally stupid amount spent on it , Z model is fugly, but goes well with virtually no brakes or suspension...

Parts - 3 complete motors, Motard set up, 2 spare tanks, seats, 2 carbs, front end and other bits n pieces including new factory workshop manual

Do I $1 reserve as it gets attention, and gets rid of the lot with a finite deadline?

Or Classified where I can list the whole inventory and sell stuff as people want it?

Or swap the lot for a CT110 (if anyone is keen?)! All or any advice much appreciated

Ohh ohh me pick me.
I'm after the handlebar stuff- levers, master cylinder, on/off switch, lite& indicator switches, flasher unit, throttle

Do you have some motard wheels? May be interested...

Got a spare brand new flasher unit, push/pull throttle (not sure if that's what you're after), other stuff will make the bikes incomplete! Motard wheels are at the basic end of the spectrum if you're after billet hubs and bling but you're welcome to have a look...

I'm constantly re-listing my XT parts, seems no one wants them, besides having "watchers". If you don't mind sitting on parts for aaaaages and taking some parts to the tip in the future, then part it out.
I think it depends on whether you want to get your money back   or just get rid of it all.

FWIW, I almost bought a DR250 last week for $150, about the same vintage as yours, but it had no spark :shit: and wouldn't run.

Can't be arsed sitting on parts....getting money back... the lot owes >$5k

I'll be stoked with $1k!

You didn't did ya :weird: ...welcome to borrow a NOS CDI and a spare 'good' stator if you want to see if that helps spark. Can drop 'em off to Woodman to bring over, or we could have an old DR250 shed night at my place

Nah... it's o.k. I passed on it, kinda over fiddling with bikes for a bit, I'm even struggling to get motivated to sort the Big
The guy sold it to someone who wanted a "project bike" for 2 hundy

Whew, yeah, not many of them run (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=407540529) ..but WW's did with Carb swap and a few kicks :violin:

I just want to ride something I can trust when I have a leave pass...rather than spending my downtime in the driveway swearing/sweating

list all the major items individually, with a low, but acceptable reserve.
after that, throw everything you have left into a $1 reserve auction.
tis what Id do anyways

I don't reckon $1 reserve auctions are worth it. You end up spending time and money on packaging the stuff up and getting it to the courier/post office, for nil profit. It's a good advertising ploy if there's going to be lots of bidders, and/or you can absorb the difference between the winning bid and your cost eg a company that can write off the loss as marketing.

If you are happy with $1k for the lot, then put the lot up for $1k reserve... that's what reserve is, the minimum you will accept. You will eventually get more if you part it out, probably.

I'd like refusal before you put anything up on TM though, please! I would like to get mine running as a loaner/learner/hack/laff machine, off-road only.

Fcuk it, do you want mine to get a whole one going reliably that you can register? Or at least try to do that before you finally rid yourself of your DR demons; mine always did start with fresh fuel and a clean plug (because kicking it with old fuel fouled the plug). I'm not going to be doing anything with it in the short term.

Absolutely...will do a stock take, NADS will be welcome to anything that leaves the bikes complete

Pretty generous of you WW, but I don't have room for a third bike until November, pretty stoked with my stacking abilities to fit all my tools/storage/materials 2 bikes and my brother's Silvia in a 6 x 3 Garage!

$1k auction, with contact details actually makes a bit of sense as buyers can come see me if they want to separate/do a deal.

Willdat?

Not one of these 250 seats sorry...probably 20 years older than yours :)
