Doing my best to foster "goodwill between all two wheeled vehicle users" this morning...

I followed some dude on a Vespa up to the lights. All the way along the road he had his left indicator on. Obviously forgotten to cancel it. Lights are red. He stops. I pull up alongside, get his attention and point to the indicator - give him the "blinker" signal. He looks blankly at me "What?" he shouts through his open visor.
I yell "indicator's on!". Blank look "What?" Me "Turn signal, blinker, indicator! It's ONNNNN!" Point point point..."What?"

Me, sotto voce "Oh for fuck's sake..." Light goes green and I piss off up the road.

No helping some people. So much for "goodwill to all...etc". Might as well have saved by breath.

Couldn't reach - and besides, it was "be kind to all two wheelers" day. Albeit briefly

Given that he carried straight on and that he had the indicator on past about five side streets, I don't think he knew it was on. Just a hunch.

Not to worry, a thread will appear in the Scooter section saying how some grumpy old man was yelling at them for some apparent infraction of rules! :msn-wink:

Do you do the 'biker nod' in NZ?

I always have a mental debate whenever I pass a scooterist about whether to nod or not...

People can be slow. I've been a pedestrian in very dark conditions, and seen a car coming my way (I'm on path, them on road). They don't have their lights on and it's clearly a time to have them on.

Any number of gestures and pointing simply cause them to look at you like you're having a seisure as they drive past. They just don't get the idea that you are trying to tell them something, let alone what that something might be.

Has happened more than once.

Got the finger again as he went past me
Round the next corner is Popo with my new friend.
Best laugh at someone else’s expense I’ve had in a long time. I almost pulled over to offer my advice but decided to keep in truckin

But, but... Scooters are a hoot to ride in town if you know how to ride... :scooter: I used to deliver the mail on one in Taupo. I raced myself every day to see if I could do it faster. I had a ball on it!

Ahhh, if you're talking about mobility scooters for the old folks, they need them up high so drivers can see that someone is about to run out in front of their car on one...:innocent: Personally I don't like them fro myself, but if anyone wants to put up with the noise while driving along and feels good for it, I guess, each to his own...

I saw/watched one of those old buggers on the road a few weeks ago, he went across at the lights on SH1 (here) and instead of getting onto the footpath, he veered off and powered up the road, until about the Mobil Station...

Is it a flag obsession or is it another, darker obsession?

Some old fulla was outside my shop on one a wee while ago. It was the gruntiest mobility scooter I've ever seen - big machine, big chunky wheels and several hours worth of battery. Guy reckoned he was having a ball on it. His family bought it for him. He reckoned he could go right across town and back without a recharge. Stick some fancy electrics in it and who knows what y'could do...

:innocent: I had an older guy in a very flash car try to kill Mr Hellokitty by repeatedly trying to run him off the road - imagine my delight when we went through a breath testing check point and he was there pulled up at the side of the road getting told off! We were waved through and I couldn't resist slowly going past laughing and yelling "tosser!!!" Like a child, I was also pointing at him:woohoo:

Was leaving a Rally meet an came up behind a car that had obviously been there as well,,,an he'd left his camera on the roof of his car.
I was doing the flashing my headlight an waving thing when he gave me the fingers an then jumped on his breaks hard.
Good trick that one,,try to fuck the bikie up an get to watch your own expensive "I hope" camera go bouncing off the bonnet an down the road.
