That Go Karts gonna be a cool patrol vehicle.

I wish they had one in Auckland, when I got pulled over on my KT100 they had the cheek to use a Commodore.

An outright chase between evenly-matched vehicles would have been far more entertaining.

btw, where do you guys get the BMW fleet serviced down south, especially with the earthquakes? I presume that shop recently announced will be handy. You need to be in Auckland... BMW dealer gives you... BMW loaners!

Spotted a police bike last night on the NW motorway.
Plain silver Honda CBR 1000, but the officer was wearing normal hi-viz + white helmet, etc.

He had not been hanging around when he was filtering, either!

Um, maybee it was just a guy on a CBR100? why do you say it was a police bike?

Just a guess... and the yello flouro vest with "Police" on it... and the radio on the hip... and the issue flip-front helmet... and he had stopped on the emergency shoulder preparing to go after broken car parts scattered on the road surface.

No you didn't. I was there on my crappy old police BMW and so were most of the other police riders in the Auckland area. The Black BMW R1200RT belongs to Darrien Rush Security who have the contract for the stadium security. It is fitted with orange lights and ridden by a security guard.

As for the CBR 1000, I wish, but trust me on this one. The police have no bikes other than BMW who have the contract to supply. It's near impossible to get anything new now including new lids, jackets etc, let alone a new bike. I just blew the gearbox on mine and I don't even know if the bike will be replaced. Just not enough money in the budget.

I'm not saying you are lying, but definitly mistaken. There are seven bikes with motorways police includcing my broken one.

Can NZ afford anything proper to do with road safety? It all seems to be in the "too costly basket" and let's chuck the least expensive (but least effective) option at it.

Wasn't when I saw him, I should see if I can find mine, might have nicked it  But in all seriousness, it's a psychologhical trick about associations. They chose to use the same model bike as us and dress like us so it triggers a preconditioned responce in people when they see him. The same as some security companies putting red and blue lights on their cars and using coulour schemes simmilar to the police. As long as the lights don't opperate and they don't use police insignia then no law broken.

He was facing away from me that's how I saw "police" across his back but i didn't take much more notice than that stuck in a line doing 20 isn't going to get me a ticket so i paid him no more attention.

There's a guy who works at Churchur hospital who rides a white K100 ex-patrol bike. Has a BMW top box where we used to have the radio box. He has a Series 3 BMW flip up helmet, and wears a yellow flouro to and from work.

I bet if I spoke to him he'd tell me that nobody cuts him off or pulls out in front of him on his commute.
