My brother picked up a Monolock box with the purchase of a bike, but for some reason it's locked (seller wasn't in the country, his family didn't know of any more keys). Shaking it around, it sounds like there is another key in it, but getting at it is the hard part.

Stamped around the lock is 147, which knowing Givi means a key stamped with 147 should work. The odds are slim, but someone may have bought a box with that number... so would appreciate the borrowing of a key, or purchase if you don't want (which I somewhat doubt).

Track down the wholesaler, my guess is they will have one for these situations. You will probably be able to order a key from somebody like Motomail.

Option 2 is to take it to your local locksmith and ask him to open it.

I have a key here left over from the Givi on my Triumph...
It has 072 stamped on it...

Got a 109 here with nothing to use it on (something about bike being nicked a number of years ago).

From experience with previous boxes, it's not usually very easy. You order a box and it comes with keys, but I might give it a shot.

Not a bad idea, cheers... hopefully it's better than mine, with a hammer/bigger hammer :innocent:

Try a locksmith, the numbers refer to the pins that are in the lock, they can then cut the right profile once they know what blank fits the keyway, either that or they decode the number to tell them the profile they need to cut. Probably wouldnt need to even take the lock to them (but would be best to make sure it fits).

Why don't you do the normal thing and just put it on your bike? Eventually, you'll do something Gremlin-like and cause it to pop open (with scratching, bent bits and maybe even destroyed in the process).

And you have like half a dozen of those things? Why the heck didn't you just give your lil'bro one!

Pretty sure you can't buy spare keys for Givi, but you can buy a key and lock set - so if all else fails order one of those and get the drill out!

As others have said, just take it to a locksmith and they will open it. Cutting a new key will be a basic task.

I took a fuel cap into a locksmith some time ago. A new key - hey presto!

Just an update if anyone searches and finds this. You can't order a specific Givi key, just key and lock sets.

So a locksmith is the go...

BFH would get the majority vote on a KB poll I would say.
