There's no such beast.

You mean best value for money don't ya? I have a good relationship with the Sawyers/Motorad crowd and I find their servicing prices competitive and their attitude very good. I would suggest ringing around and getting a verbal non-conditional idea of what you could expect to pay if you know precisely what it is you need done.

Maidstone in Upper Hutt are regarded as good value by some on KB too.

Don't forget some plumbers tape for those foot pegs. :)

I actually know how you feel, but every time I try to come over all "efficient" and do my own servicing I end up spending about $600/hr to pay someone else to fix the $1800 worth of damage I caused undoing the oil filter. Hence the cheerfully fatalistic approach to paying someone $75/hour.

Depends on the type of 'service' you're looking for doesn't it. I'm sure many are prepared to put out for free. Oh, you mean mechanical repairs, well that's going to cost $$$.
I seem to be on a permanent drip feed from my bank a/c to bike shop. No wonder I can't feed or clothe the kids. Shoes!! I can't afford to get you shoes can't you see these cool bike accessories I got instead.

He sorted a few bits out for me on the XJ550 before I came up and got it and was quite reasonably priced for the amount of work he did on it

Hey NC, ring Richard @ Richard's Motorcycles in Johnsonville. I've never had a problem there and he is always happy to help

or

the town library has workshop manuals :D tis what I usually do, cause I'm too damn tight to pay someone else unless I really really have too, which isn't very often.

Good luck

Poor bugger i'm at the opposite end of the scale.....huge cock but a paltry 75kg [ and thats with the coke bottle glasses and the steel cap boots].
However i use a complex series of pulley's, ropes and a 200kg pendulum to ram home the good news

Thanks for that, I thort it may be something serious.

My advice(for what it is worth as I don't use mechanics if I can help it) Go with who other people say are good value. Don't go with cheapest hourly rate, you can often pay more because they take twice as long.

If you have a choice between two places go with the easiest for you eg. walk to, free pickup etc.
