A little race report for you that stayed away:

Track 6 Taupo was the call instead of track 2, which was fine by me. Instead of the flip-flop through the normal track 2(it wasnt an option due to oil from a car the day before created a new track layout for the day) track 6 was born. Follow the normal track 1 layout and once passed the right handler that connects track 2 to track 3, hairpin left. Few people struggled into it, but all good, kinda reminded me of a mx/cross country flip-flop finish line, but a whole lot wider!

Anyways practice rolled out, my bike was back home and I was going to use someone elses FXR, out onto the track and its way wide, forgot about this stuff, can carry more corner speed and on the gas more and for longer. Practice/qualifing went all good, something strange was happening up front and not able to brake as well, back to the pits to check it out.

Race 1, swapped bikes to the old mans bike to compare notes, was going good, slowly making my way around the track, into the new corner and wooow, left handlebar slips forward and I overshoot the corner, race over and back to pits.

Race 2 the re-run run, after a red flag or two(i think), we had a race. By this time its showers coming and going, the wets are on. Never used these before so unsure of how far I can go without it sliding and/or crashing. Race starts, everyones braking too early, slide forward into a gap, get out dragged from turn 1, dirty 250 inline 4's go past, ride around the outside of them at turn 2, almost caught up with a 150, wait and line another two or three up for turn 5 and around the outside again, get out-dragged down the shoot to turn 7, line them up to go around the outside, job done, keep my line around the sweeper for turn 9, 50m board everyone braking when Im still hard on the gas, up the inside of a 150, into the hairpin, out dragged and so it went on like this. Got up to 5th amognst the prolites, catching air force guy in 4th and then crap red flags out, counted a lap back and im down to 6th. Had 5th best lap time(1.47.610) for the race so was happy with that. Glad it rained as slowed a few of the other riders down and luckily had wets to put on. Shame about the red flags, but completely understand why, was fun to get amongst it and get out shit sorted out for this weekend. Now do I sell my 450 and get a road bike...probably not, was good fun though.
