Would anybody be keen to do this ride?

Takes 3 1/2 hours and it's 286km, could be a worthwile ride, whilst getting to see a large cultural difference since the east cape is 88% Maori population.

It is well worth while. Clockwise or anti clockwise, round the cape and back through the Waioeka Gorge or vice versa.

Have you done it or still contemplating?

Still contemplating, lots of other reasons stopping me at the moment, so looking at it as more of a future ride.

It's a great ride with nice scenery. I've done it twice this year - the last time during the Grand Challenge last weekend.

Take care on the roads: there is still the large gravel diversion just East of Opotiki and lots of road damage in other areas. The worse areas for road damage are North of Tokomaru Bay (see vid) but they get better after Te Araroa. Always potential for animals on the road too - I counted 3 horses, 2 cattle and a mob of sheep, not to mention the feathered stuff.
