You've got about a week and a half to get your entries in. You've procrastinated enough. ACT NOW and stop making it hard for the guys and gals organising the event.
I reckon double entry fees for anyone pathetic enough to want to enter on the day, plus their shout at the end of the day(s).
Feck, you lot must all be politicians - full of hot air and absolutely no damned action. No wonder I'm apolitical.

there are those with valid excuses, but c'mon, it ain't all of you.
I know we're all used to EOD's and therefore get lazy, but for a once a year event, we're asked to pre-book. Those of us who've pre-booked will then have to wait for EOD's to be processed, and cut into our drinking, oh, I mean, racing/riding time.
We could just do the results on how entries were sent in, and just play port on the corner (with taxi's pre-booked).
Oh, but if we're playing port on the corner, how many corners, how many players, and most importantly, how many bottles of PORT. Guess the end result is we need entries to be sent in.
There are two types of alcoholics (I'm sure there's many more) - functioning and non-functioning, and I've worked out I'm generally a functioning one, but every now and then, if you put me on a bike, I get to try out the other type of alcoholism.
That was my profound wisdom for the evening, now back to racing, back to getting entries in.
We're now up to 6 with Girrlracer and Clivoris (this is my count, and absolutely have no damned idea). When I get to 10, someone else has to take over, as I'll have then run out of fingers, and it's too cold to take my socks off so I can count to 20.

Me and my sponsor are in and I believe fast Rick is also going down along with Gav and Jules and the pair of you that makes at least 7 dorklanders heading for a hang over, just keep Henk off my new Helmet that I have not yet bought as I may have to bill him if he ruins another one.

Fast Rick? Is that the one that used to ride, before a kid stole his mojo?
Best bet for not damaging your new helmet that you haven't paid for yet, is to not crash in front of ANYONE. Don't blame Henk for your mistake, I keep hearing him bitch about his thumb lol

I sense a lack of sympathy coming from your direction, it is a well documented fact that gentlemen suffer longer and more intensely than ladies.
I still have the pin that came out of my thumb if Henk is in need?

Not as far as I'm aware. One of the locals can probably give a definitive answer.
However there is a campground not too far away.

Think it's the Harcourts campground. On Akatawara Road (however that mountain-goat road's called). The Aka's anyways.
If your GPS tells you to go that way, tell it to get f'ed and go over the Haywoods or any other way but that one.
Be good to meet up with a Vegas-ite :)

Hahahaha, yup its a meal. I once decided when I had borrowed a Bedford jumbo to take my poor ill CBX550 to kapiti that maybe that would be a quicker way. That was hard work I tells ya. We thought of going back & planting a sign that said "HAVE YOU HAD ENOUGH YET?" about 1/2 way through.
Road is closed through to other side at the moment anyway
Henk
28th September 2011, 20:59
I drove the van over there on the way to Kaitoke last year. I swear I could see the next six corners on the GPS at times, every time I saw a sign the told me to keep it uper 50k/h I had to laugh because I struggled to get over 30. Bloody goat track it is, nice view from the top though.
Dutchee
28th September 2011, 21:00
There are a couple of signs along the way.
Last year (before the Easter meet), Henk thought I was heading to Taranaki, but I decided I'd see if I could track down a friend in Carterton, so ended up coming to Kaitoke early, and as I was heading north to meet Henk, read the map as the Aka's being the quickest way.
When I met up with Henk around Ohakune, he got told all about this goat track. So we headed back down the country, and the damned GPS told us to go over the Aka's. Henk now knows exactly what the hell I meant, and having ridden it both directions, I don't get the fascination with it. It'd be fine as a one way road, but meeting up with campervans etc, it's not my cup of tea. But I did love the area where the 4WD's play, with an awesome view over wherever the hell it is. (yeah, I'm challenged with names and places and faces and everything really, but know that the motel I stopped at was too damned expensive to be bothered with).
F5 Dave

. . .I don't get the fascination with it. . .
I don't think anyone is fascinated by that road. There is a bunch of dirt riding that can be done in that general area, perhaps that is the confusion.
I did remember a decent ride on my RZ350 through there. perfect bike for it, peeble around the left hand corners grazing the bank & then when you see the road open drop the clutch & launch to the next safe spot, pull the clutch & peeble around again. My mate following on a GPZ1100 wasn't having such a great time on that barge. Not really a 4 stroke road anyway. You need something light small & medium powerful.

I got the impression from someone up here (that used to live down there) that it's one of the "must ride" roads. Maybe I should ask him straight out as to what blardy drugs he's on. Then again, I think he's an old friend of Skunks, so that probably explains a lot, and then add into the equation he's a work colleague of Henk's, and he's pretty screwed hahaha

Must be deluded, maybe he thought the rimas & got confused. Strangely I've made two trips deep into the Akataruas yesterday & today, but in the van. - Its ok I had the race bike in the back. They say that if you can find him, old man Daemon shapes & glues metal into artistic shapes & forms:shit:. ok they don't say that now, but they may well in 20 or so years.
Worth the drive if you want a job done proper like.

Look at the external shift linkage. queer angle will make it sucky, should be square & like straight downish to get max movement.

for all of you who didn't turn up and think you missed a great weekend. Don't worry, you didn't. It really sucked. The track sucks, the people down there suck, the food sucks, the booze sucks, everything sucks.
Okay, got rid of that lot, when's the next great event???????? Ideal would be a couple of bikes down there, a couple up here, fly down, rent a car (the trip home sucked, the interlude was a huge amount of fun, but blardy, I'm sure that drive is getting longer).
Thanks to everyone for another fantastic weekend. Shame about it being so chilly on Saturday (the rain was okay, it was the chill factor that was the killer), but yesterday's weather definitely made up for that. All I remember about the racing was it was huge fun, and I was stoked again, even if I came last. The 100 behaved yesterday (after playing up Saturday), and the 150 played up Sunday (after behaving Saturday). Thanks George for the help with the brakes, I somehow wasn't that keen on heading out without front brakes (back wouldn't have bothered me).
Definitely missed having Trudes to battle with, but having the youngsters to ride with was great. (hehe, I looked over and went, hmm, all C grade is Aucklanders).
Now for Taupo, Taumaranui, Tokoroa, Roy's Hill (in time, hopefully), and all the other huge fun away meets (even if I end up deciding not to ride, they're just good fun).
Thanks for sharing your track again, and we'll be back at some stage in the new year no doubt (oh yeah, definitely Easter).

Sorry I didn't come out to say HI!!!!! I was severly hung over on Saturday (rolled in the front door at about 5am...) and then Andrew text and said it was pissing down so I figured there wasn't much point piling onto the Hornet and coming out.
Then on Sunday I did the sensible adult thing and made the decision to stay home and do an assignment and ring my mammy rather than stand about with a beer and a flag.
Having a broken bike sucks a little, I haven't completely given up the will to live, but I'm getting there......
Rangi  and I will hopefully be back in action again for the next time you're here chook. :wings:

Yep, looks identical to one I was using. Seemed to work fine Rich as soon as it was pointed level with the bike instead of into the sky....dumbass. Other than that all good, got every lap I did :2thumbsup
Getting one off Tardme would def. be quicker than Ebay that's for sure...
PS. Go hard at BOB

Yeah I think it could have been a setup issue. I did have it working in the garage timing the kids doing laps on there bikes.

No worries, I knew you had an assignment and Kendog told me you'd gone out for a couple of quiets and come home at 5am :) Plus Rangi not a happy motorbike.
Taupo's in a few weeks, so hopefully you can make that.
Oh, and that's the sort of day I won't bother taking out the road bike either, unless I have to go to work these days lol. That's one thing I miss on weekends with me now riding buckets - the days when Henk gets the hell out of my hair and I just do what the hell I want lol

Thanks everyone for some awesome racing!! Thanks to all those flaggies, especially Malcolm (who is recovering from shoulder surgery) Craig, Simon, Clive, Mihi, Adrian, Julie, Josh Mike (x2)and Andrew Adlams youngest and anyone else that went out for most races that I have missed for all the effort and time spent flagging. It make sthings so much easier and the day run well when you have assistance!
Don't forget people that flagging is the best way to see all the racing close up. I did feel it was a shame that we had issues with getting (new) volunteers to front up on Sunday. Ironically we had no issues on Sat when it was pissing with rain?
Anyway, I feel like I have run a bloody marathon so I can only imagine how some those of you that were actually riding must feel today!

Oh Str8 - definitely thanks to all those who flagged, it was much appreciated. I was pathetic and only flagged two races, but we were having issues with bikes.
Young Mr Adlam had me a bit confused as in the last C grade race (I think, might've been the one earlier, dunno), he had the yellow out (just resting), which wasn't a big deal, until I think he went to move it. I then had to look to see if there was a yellow or not.
C grade is like F5, where it doesn't seem worth having flaggies, as there's so few of us, and so it's always the hardest to get started. Plus there's nothing to learn from us wobblers, but people like Senior Mr Adlam are appreciated when they point out things we're doing wrong. (I'm struggling a bit with exactly what I can do to fix it, but will work on it).
Feck, I've got shitloads of stuff running through my head (what's left of it), and wondering how the hell I'm going to survive this week of work lol. Hmm, I just want to go riding. Ah well, will just have to cheer on Avalon this weekend and see if we can talk to her and race vicariously (however spelt if that's even the word I'm looking for lol - my brain is mush).

Hey, you guys were awesome - you both flagged more than once. I'm hinting (read saying) at those who didn't go out once. Those I mentioned went out for most of the races they weren't racing in, they rock! :)
As do you two! :D

I felt guilty only flagging twice over two days (once a day). I did spot familiar faces in flag points and noticed that they were flagging different points during the day. Julie was out there often, so she made up for my slackness. Thanks to those spectators who come along expecting to just watch and end up helping out flagging - you guys rock!!!
We do have the same battles up here with flaggies, I don't quite understand it. I enjoy flagging and watching, especially points I'm not happy with, so I can try to figure out things. I just don't want to do it all day (as per Taumaranui last year, where I spent two whole days out on flags while others just cruised around, that actually really sucked).
hehe, what's funny is looking at the Auckland results, I don't know how she did it, but Julie got 6th and 7th in the races up here hahaha, that explains a lot to me lol.

Awesome, well run meet on my favourite track.

Its a one of these. http://www.elmo.co.jp/suv-cam/en/product/index.html
They are not HD at all but very reliable and tough. It came off my tank once in a race. I managed to catch it then chucked it into the in field at about 100kph
It was mounted on the side of the frame. Thats the cool thing about pencil cams they can be cable tied in lots of different places. I do like the gopro cam's as well.
I am hoping to borrow my brothers Gopro for the front and mount mine on the rear swing arm for BOB. Should be cool having both front and back views.

I do like the gopro cam's as well.
I normally get great results from my Gopro, but this weekend was pretty ordinary.
1. The footage has some fairly serious vibration, way more than it has had in the past.
2. The mount snapped, sending the camera flying. Fortunately straight onto grass and Glen saw where it went so he picked it up after the race.
3. The battery went flat before my best two races

Will hopefully upload Race 2 from Blair's bike tonight. Race 3 he forgot to turn the camera on, gutted about that as would have made good viewing with the crash on the pit-exit corner. Result of the crash was luckily only sore body, front wheel been sent off to get straightened out, forks seem straight looking at them though will be double checking later in the week.

Glad he's okay. He definitely had me worried, especially when he started kicking - then finally dawned on me - oh shit, we're not watching tv, and the bike's on him. I couldn't believe he wasn't knocked out (initially thought he was for a second) or worse.
That did get us foreigners talking though - who's the first aider down there? I can't stand the sight of blood, so I'm no use for anything.
Oh, George, glad the weekend went well for you - I was pleased with how sensible you were Saturday when you were heading home, that to me was the best thing you could've done in those crap conditions :)

Why the hell would anyone photograph a bunch of wobblers??????????? I did see Darryl I think with camera in hand during one of our wobblings, but no idea where he puts the photos.
I sometimes think I should grab the camera off Henk's bike and then he can turn around and criticise the crap out of my riding, and point out where I could've passed whoever etc, but never think of it on the day, I'm too busy having fun.
It was really cool when you two joined us :)
