Hey i recently brought a zxr250a with a massive dent at the very rear of the tank (somebody must have been very sore after this) any ideas on how i could fix this up or anyone i could take it to in Chch. or would it just be cheaper to find another tank?
Any help would be great

I'd just look around for a new tank, It is fixable but probably just easier to get another.

Iv never dented a tank,
but If I were looking for a cheap alternative to having it completely overhauled/buying a new one, its an option.

Bog alone isn't generally considered a good idea for such deep dents, Sure its do-able but that means it ain't 'done proper' and may cause problems as a result.

Its in a area thats way to hard to use a suck cup on. So, big wash out. Fill with none explosive fluid. Weld some Bolts to the tank and attach a slide hammer. Hammer away. Grind off bolts and tidy up and repaint.

Would be easier to get a new one.

+1 on this as I've tried to do tanks with dents like this in the past and its very difficult. I took a Ducati tank to a car " dentless" repair guy, he gave it a go but no luck and it was less dented than your one.
I've seen years old bog on cars and had to chisel it out.....its all in the prep of the metal and sealing the bog from moisture after....should last for years.

cheers for all the replies. Think i'll just look around for another tank and repaint it, sounds like the best option but in the mean time i'll just have to live with my bike cupping me for a wee bit :)

It's nasty, but not fucked. Most panel shops will have a nail puller and be able to pull that dent out somewhat. Will still require de-fuming, filling and painting, but a skim of bog is much better than a blob.
