No seriously. Why is Lake Rotorua part of the Nelson Lakes area?

I don't get it.............

The Eels got him I reckon....seriously.
There's some monsters in there and I know of several locals who have been chased out of the Lake by them.
That or its the Taniwha that lives there, but he/she/it is pretty benign.Gets a bit grumpy in the afternoon though.

I was at school with a maori chap called Malcome Priestly (spelling sucks) and he went swimming in the Waikato river in jeans and drowned.
Nambasa/Sweetwaters? one or the other...think it was Sweetwaters because they shut it down after that loss of life.

The danger of swimming in jeans has been so well known for so long it is incredible these days that people can be so stupid.

It is also well known that shrinking jeans to fit by bathing in them and letting them dry on, can cause you to lose your legs, as was a the case about thirty years ago for one young lady.

Apart from the fact that it is completely unrelated to this incident and more about an emergency situation, i.e. your boat sinks under you, that's good advice that could save a life.

Swimming in jeans, however remains a stupid thing to do.
