From Tuesdays "Hutt News"

My son was involved in a motor vehicle accident on 25 June one the Moonshine Bridge in Upper Hutt.

I would like to thank the following, who initiated actions to save his life and poured wonderful support upon the family of three.

* Wellington Free Ambulance, who happened to be about a minute behind the accident and the crew who fought for so long to stabilise David before transporting him to the Emergency Department at Wellington Hospital.

* All the staff at the Emergency Department for their long and tenacious dedication to preserve life and give support to the very distressed parents.

* All the staff of the ICU and Orthopaedic sections for their wonderful dedication to patient care in the first week when David was critical.

* The Kiwi Bikers' Association for rallying such massive support around David and his parents.

* The two ladies at Victim Support for the ongoing contact.

* All close friends and mates for surrounding us with love and hope.

To Bruce and Debbie... thank you for being such wonderful neighbours. At times like this I now fully understand the meaning of "in true kiwi spirit".

Hear hear. Heroes don't have to be unsung & it's nice to read this sort of thing.

How nice, that at such an emotional time in their lives, Dave's parents took the time to thank those who had been there when it mattered. Not a nice way to find out who your friends are, but isn't it great to see how everyone has rallied around to support them all.

Three cheers for everyone who helped ensure a good outcome for Dave. I never met him but hope to see him out riding again in the future. Good on everyone who has helped support him and his parents during the past few weeks, that IS the true kiwi spirit.
