I suppose there's no time for ladies when you're making delicious pies.

So this Jimmy's is unchallenged?

Andersons Pie Shop in Princes Street Hawera are worthy of a solid mention. Good pies but their warmer wasn't quite up to scratch last month.

North end bakery Oamaru for their chicken, cranberry and bree pie.

Jimmy's Roxbough mutton pie, yep a winner. They are not some special "art on a plate" especially made for some competition pie. I have never seen them available north of the Lagonda Tea Rooms, Oamaru. A good solid spicy mutton pie.

Starting at Trish's Pies in Cambridge Terrace Wellington, I'm adding that one, next stop is the German bakery in Petone, then across to Ray's pies n fries in Paraparaumu, another one Ive added, then up to Pete's pies in Sanson, across to Andersons Pie Shop in Hawera. Then its a long haul to Regency Pies in Kamo Whangarei and then an even longer haul back to Turangi bakery. That's the North Island done.
South Island start at Oamaru's North end bakery then one of the two reccomended Dunedin bakeries, say Cottage Bakery, on to Roxburgh, bottom out at Winton and then back to Marlows in Dunedin.
Not quite NZ via pie shop but covers a lot of it.

had a "bushmans pie" at the cafe in Pirongia in the weekend. (made on premises) had a layer of steak bits, mince on top then mash and mixed veges and then egg and bacon to top it off before putting a decent crust over the top.

It was a meal in itself!!!

Seems like a Nationwide Pie Run is in order... Fat Max sounds like a job for your organisational skills & FBMC. "FBMC Annual Nationwide Pie Run" Sounds like a good biker event to me :D

And while we're at it we mustn't forget a stop in for a pie with the 'Naked Pie Man' in Palmerston North

Whatever, I don't really give a shit who they're made by, you can't get mutton pies in the NI. So I need someone to buy a heap of frozen ones on my behalf, and chuck em in a chilly bin, then send em up.

Actually, I've just had a better idea. Stand by.

Currently I would have to say Lyttelton for a steak, bacon and cheese pie. There is an interesting shop in Te Anau sorta like a hole in the wall place that did some very nice pies when we were there last year.

Ventured into Onehunga the other day and called into Penny Lane bakery (just down from Dick Smith). They won a bronze or silver in the pie awards for one of their pies. So I bought one. Not too shabby!
