Is there a quick n easy to wear in new boots? Just got some new SMX-5's and obviously theyre pretty stiff. Also, they fit fine (plenty comfy), but i'm a little concerned about the zipper on the side as its pretty hard to do up with pants tucked into them, will this come right? Or am I going back to the shop tomorrow to swap them?

hey.. I dont know about those, but on mine i got some beeswax off trademe, and coated my boots, jacket and gloves with them. It soaks in and they go nice and soft after a day or so..

Mine almost impossible to do up with my leathers on. But after a couple of weeks they are fine.

At least i'm not the only one having that problem
Guy at the shop told me to go for a 44 rather than a 45 but they felt way too tight and couldnt even get them done up, so hopefully these dont get too slack with wear

Don't put beeswax on them - they are made of microfibre not leather, so that's not required. They also won't stretch much if at all because of this.
Make sure when you do them up that you're not leaning into the front of the boot putting pressure on the zip - that'll make them hard to do up and put strain on the zip.
Mine do up fine over my leather pants, but they are Alpinestars too.

So they'll retain a fairly tight fit then? Probably lucky I didn't get a 44 :shit:
Being microfibre, will they be harder to clean and/or maintain than leather boots?

Damp newspaper stuffed inside over night....then ride.
A little difficult to get on initially but once you've had your ride they should be tickitiboo

Yes, the fit will remain much the same. Cleaning is easy - just a damp rag normally, or if really dirty some warm water and detergent. (Microfibre is made from polyurethane!) If they lose their shine a bit of Armor-All or similar will bring them up like new.
It's being used more and more in boots because of the fact that it doesn't lose it's shape, is lighter than leather and has as much if not more abrasion resistance.
Because they're synthetic DMNTD's tip won't have any effect except to make the lining damp... :) (But that tip does work on leather boots)

I have trouble doing up my boots too, if I don't hold the zip together as it feeds into the slider. If you use Armor-all make sure you don't get it on the soles. It could make things interesting. :innocent:

I've found Silicone spray works wonders on zips ...
Also ... helps drawers slide better ..
Electric radio aerials slide up and down easier ...
A heaps of other stuff that a bit of dry lubricant might be needed
