You go to buy a bike, You get treated like someone they want to talk to, Are friendly helpful and do what needs to be done to find out what interests you and what they can provide within your budget that would suit.
They make you WANT to deal with them, so you buy the bike of your desires, You leave with a good feeling, knowing the shop appreciates your business.
A few weeks later you receive a call, They are checking to make sure you are happy with the bike, No problems?, a bit of a chinwag about riding, a reminder of when the service is due and a price if required, though of course feel free to call in any time, the staff are happy to help. And before we go would you like another phone call in 3 months or do you feel you are good to go?
no?, thats excellent sir, Thanks again for being a customer and we hope to see you next time.
Oh wait, That never fucking happened.
I spent 20 grand with some of the most indifferent people I have ever met (though they were far better then some of the cunts in the industry) who put up with me in there shop spending money, Received no back up service, none, zero, zilch. Not a word.
Then over a year later, they send TXT spam to my fucking mobile fucking phone inviting me in to spend money on their shit boots.
Here is my position, Fuck you.
There were plenty of opportunities to ensure repeat service from me, You done none of these things, then you send shit to my phone.
Not once, But 6 or 7 times.
Fuckin bullshit. Useless.

That's not good
I'm sure you'd be happy to pay more for a better service. I know that I would.
I just recently had great service form Cycletreads and also from Holeshot's service department.
I know where I will go the next time I need something

Pay more for better service?
uh...no.It should be provided already.
And its up to management to specify what level of service is provided and to ensure thats what happens.
Its a funny situation where you get better/friendlier service from a KFC outlet.

I took Her Indoors to look at a house a couple of years ago. We didn't want to buy it from the moment we stepped onto the property and made that clear to the agent. We never spoke to or saw the agent again, then started getting spam emails from him. I rang his boss after a while seeing as my reply emails asking to be removed from their mailing list were seemingly ignored. Last week I get a message from Facebroke (which I also dislike) saying the prick estate agent wants me to "like" him.
Yeah, right.

I guess we all have our favourite workshops... All the "issues" I have had with my bike, which I didn't buy from Cyclespot (my preferred workshop) and they have discussed crap with me for hours and hours (lol) and always fix things the way I need them to be done, and never laugh at me for being a silly woman.

Then the bike industry would be an excellent place for you to be.
I can handle and expect indifferent and poor service, Its the norm in NZ, Waiting a year and a half and sending me text messages?
Total wank, and whoever decided on that approach is a douche bag.

Meh,I have an amazing ability to recorgnise and appreciate good follow up service, Its quite different from a mass sending of text messages.
If I had received a follow up call I would have thanked them, and they would be on the list of people worthy of more money.
Fuck it, When I had my business I was selling far cheaper units with less markup and I asked everyone if they required any follow up, I gave them a phone call, and if required I called in to ensure everything was sweet.
It aint that hard.

Would have to say the motorcycle trade is not good at customer service. Not going to name names but 3 weeks to get back to me on a part? Yeah Im happy to walk to work that long while you get your shit together.
But credit where its due, I have 3 guys I will always go to for good service.
Rodger at Action wreckers.
Alec at Sanderson Motorcycle engineering.
Todd at Cycletreads.
Good on ya.

I recently took my bike into Southland Honda for service. Though they didn't know me they asked if I'd like to "test ride" a bike while I waited (!). They were friendly, professional and efficient. They answered all my questions fully and patiently. When the work was done they helped me fine-tune my bike's suspension at no extra charge. I don't think I've ever had a more pleasant pit-stop, and I didn't even buy my bike from them! Good people and great service can still be found in NZ- if you're having trouble then perhaps consider a quick ride south to Invercargill.

Think yourself lucky, its one thing to hand over the $ and get something in return ie a complete motorcycle its another totally to give it back and let them fuck it up for you,as you say it is NZ.Theres not much to servicing a bike.

You almost wonder if the company has had new sales manager,i.e going through old sales and telling the team to enquire to the buyer if they can be of help. Not saying they have but when new staff come in they have new ideas, his maybe we will follow up a sale,we will ask for repaet business etc.

We all have our bad dealer stories, sadly it's a fact of life, and sometimes a shops attitude can be completely altered by one staff member leaving or joining.
My local dealer (TSS) I will go out of my way to shop there and give business to, they have treated me fantasticaly well. But I am sure there are some who would disagree with that.
Alot of 'customer service' is also down to customer expectation. I worked in a specialist shop for Ham radio gear etc in the UK, and some customers you simply want to tell them to F**K off and never return.
Sometimes you go into a shop and they have an attitude that any questions, or questioning of their information or products is seen as being a whiney bitch?? Yeh I'll go back there again!!!
