Righto boys and girls, here is the deal.

I've organised with the VMCC for any Kiwi Bikers who register in this thread to have access to the Manfield circuit during the lunch break of their Championship meeting on Saturday 23 July.

At this stage there is not likely to be any cost to riders other than your attendance and support at the meeting. Along with that you get to see some of the best club level road racing in the country and some of our very own KBers competing in their respective classes.

The session will last approx 20 minutes

But like all events of this sort there will be some rules...

# Only open to KBers who register on this thread
# You will have to sign an indemnity form prior to accessing the circuit
# This is NOT (R) NOT a race.
# Road bikes only - WOF will be checked.
# No passing in the corners
# No passing the lead rider
# Duct tape will be provided to cover your speedo
# No crashing :) the marshalls will be on lunch break

So respond to this thread if you're keen to attend and participate, and I'll add you to the list below. Feel free to ask any questions in the open thread too!

Cheers
Mark

WTF, unless it's Andrew Stroud or someone like that, no problem then.

I should be there racing that day. I don't mind holding a flag at lunch time if you need a marshall. With vid camera in other hand of course.

Free track time. Go for it.

Why are we (VicClub) doing this? We want to get more spectators and other non-racer people turning up to events. It will give us better leverage for sponsors to keep the series running next year.

It also gives people a chance to ride round the track - encourage more riders into racing.

Check out the VMCC sponsors:
Actrix
TSS Motorcycles
Sawyers
JN Flooring
Motomart
Dannevirke Suzuki
RacingLinks

As an aside. Vic Club has Manfeild for a whole weekend later this year. First day will be free track day for vic club members ONLY. Sign up for $35 ($25 renewal) even if all you want is a cheap day on the track.

Think I might be riding somewhere near the back of the field in Clubmans that day.

Nice to know I can have a ride if theres any issues like failing scrutineering.

Its actually too late now entries close two weeks before the event.

Sparky Bills is the guy to beat if his chain doesn't fall off and safety toggle doesn't kill the motor.

If the weather's ok I might pop up. Just to watch though - I think I'll wait till an actual track day since I've never been out before. Good on you for organising that though Mark!!!

These are not going to be ultra fast laps. The session will be quite slow to start with till everyone gets to have a good look at the circuit and "see where it goes". Generally all tracks are very different when you finally get on them to what you imagine from the grandstands. This would be a great chance for you to ride it for free and then spend all your good money at a track day doing what you want to do.

Go on, you know you want to.

I've only got jeans though.
And I've never been on a track at all and everyone else prob would've. Wouldn't it be better if I went on one of the "beginners laps" at a track day?
I know I'll get right into once I've been out a couple of times but I keep putting it off till later.

No, this is your best chance to hae a look at the track at a good comfortable pace. Then when you get to pay for it you'll be able to give it heaps as we know you can do.

I doubt that jeans will be a problem on the day... no rules have been set about clothing but you might want to check with SVS first.

15th July 2005, 21:42
jeans shouldn't be a problem, since it's not an open track, but still recommend leathers.

Any others who might be interested and are waiting till the morning to see if the day dawns clear and suitable for a track session, then feel free to come along and join in. It is free after all!. I have to remnd every one though that this will not be a race and is more to let people have a look at the circuit and know which way it goes. I can assure you that after my track session last weekend, it is a helluva lot different in reality to what it looks like form the sidelines.

My bike, the red Firestorm with tinted double bubble screen, will probably be parked somewhere near the dummy grid and infront of the fast food caravan. I suggest we meet near my bike as soon as we can after the last race of the morning session. SVS should have some forms for us to sign and then we can get into it.

At this stage it looks like I'll be your lead rider, but if we can get one of the senior racers to do it for us it will provide a better oppurtunity to understand the lines that they take around the track.

Cya there, and enjoy yourselves.

Cheers
Mark
