Meh, if it rains, they'll get three people and a dog on a string.

-Edit-

There's going to be one in Auckland as well, you can go and associate with the likes of Carolan, Bradford and Minto and try marching up Queen Street through a few '000 pissed rugby fans.

The whole monetary system is flawed, its gonna crash sooner or later.,its all based on greed, profit and self gain.Just watched a movie zeitgeist addendum which shows how the corrupt system works..I can see now there are better ways for people to live...I,ve had enough of all the bullshit and propaganda we are fed by the powers that be.There needs to be a change, because 99% of the people should be in control not the 1% greedy.

I've watched one of the zeitgeist movies and although interesting and informative, there's nothing quite like figuring out for yourself eh... There is an alternative... just a shame that too many people seem to prefer the current madness... coz everyone else is jealous of what they've gotz , oh and lazy to not get their own

It will largely be students, the unemployed (no prejudice here), the 'unproductive' that show up. Everyone will be at work earning and being productive so that many of the "occupy" protestors can be paid by us spend their day occupying.

Their FB page looks like they just want to protest about everything bad in the world. They do not even have some ideal or goal that they are trying to achieve. Typical.

heh... it starts on the weekend... after that, I'd rather the unemployed/students/anyone who isn't getting paid stayed until they figure out what they want... just like the guys in the US, there's no real goal as it's only a protest... which is a shame, because once they realise they're not making any real difference it'll go 1 of two ways. I'm hoping is isn't dispersing... but also hope that they figure out that they're protesting the wrong group of people, imho.

As patronising as this may sound, it's not meant to be, he's almost there but really needs to think it through a little further. What happens if your state does something at odds with national law? Will your state be embargoed? How do you generate "wealth" for your state in that situation? For that matter, removing the 1:9 ratio of fiat money will bring on a recession, if that's what it could be called, that would absolutely anihilate the global economy and cause travesty on a scale that would be much worse than we currently have (think Africa, India etc...).

Gold is money, as is silver, after all they all have values that change given "economic" changes... as do cows and chickens (although a chicken is more valuable than a cow :shifty:) etc... It's that representation of value that's the problem... the currency is pretty much irrelevant.

If there is a finite amount of money in the world, how do you pay for the next generation without sending the current generation to the poor house? The more people there are, the more money you need, which unfortunately means plucking some more off of that invisible money tree. It simply doesn't work, can't work, never has worked and never will work without the generation of more money. (unless you use no exchange mechanism at all)

The rest are misguided fools that feel they are entitled to enjoy the fruits of the labor of others, like this idiot:

So, according to your logic, a vote for labour means a vote for unemployed doleblugers and massive handouts to parasites on the taxpayer?

Have to be careful blaming the 1% ersīby worldwide standards anyone earning $40,000 dollars is in the top 4% in the world. Funny how everyone was quiet about the unfairness of the system when the "capitalist pigs" were keeping everyone sweetened up with payouts.

$60,000 NZD puts you in the 1% erībracket on a worldwide scale. Quite a few people on KB would be on a lot more than that.

Can we lynch them?

As I understand it, the 99% aren't pissed off with the 1%'s gains, just the ill gotten gains with tax loopholes, and pressuring TPTB and corruption etc; which is fair enough.

Are the same people pissed off that those who earn more also pay more tax, not dollar wise but % wise?

Which puts them in the top 10%.

I think it's perfectly natural to want everyone to play by the rules, and to organise the rules such that productive effort is the variable that controls a person's income.

Unfortunately it's also perfectly natural for people to feel hard done by without knowing a jot about those high earner's work ethics. Whether they've "earned" their income or not.

So by all means tweak the rules so they describe what's "fair", and persecute the ones that break the rules. Just make godamn sure there'll be enough incentive for the genuinely productive to do their thing, eh?

'Cause at the moment it's touch and go...

There's many a person that I personally know that work ten times harder and longer than some 'higher earning' workers that still only earn around $30,000-$35,000 for a genuine number of reasons...
It goes both ways. So of course I agree with you, but......

Generalising is bad. But... <_<

Most of the reasonably high earners I know genuinely earn their income, they really do work far harder than average, and usually take more risks. That's not to say they all produce value in proportion to their income, a small sub-set of that group of high earners I consider produce less value than might normally be expected for their level of remuneration.

Almost exclusively that sub-set hold positions that are somewhat protected. They hold a monopoly through qualification, association or some other form of exclusivity. If you believe the aim of the game is to maximise the return on your daily effort you could argue that they made good career choice.
