Absolutely,An amazing result from an amazing talent and so humble and appreciative with it!
Still what chance did he really have seeing as he started off on an ugly and slow Streetstock 150,The experts will tell you he was never gonna make it too Moto GP.Bwahahahahaha!!!
Go Jake!!You young man are most definitely a star in the making,Thank you MCC for nurturing and guiding yet another fine talent!!keep up the good work

Grow up mate, no one suggested you cant come through those channels. How about we not make this thread about you. We all know that your way is the best way and no one else should put forward there opinions.
Good on you Jake, it seemed those bikes were to small for ya so it may not have been the right path for you anyway. I have a contact that races in the Spanish CEV that would be well interested in you if you can stump up some $$$ in either Moto 2 or 3.

Yeah interesting, was giving this some thought today. I'm not sure that the Red Bull Rookie is necessarily the best route to take, esp for a kiwi. I wonder if a young Valentino, Marco Sic, Ben Spies or even Kevin Schwantz would make the final selection from the criteria that they are looking for eg another Dani Pedrosa (the smaller the better).
I think the new Moto3 class should be where a Team NZ/Kiwi should be aimed at.
Certainly the first year with NSF250R and maybe a home brewed chassis should be worth exploring. NZ supposedly leads the world in carbon fibre if you listen to some of the yachting waffle. BSL racing tried 500GP and effectively got burned with the change in rules to unleaded fuel. How about a BSL framed Moto 3 bike? Support from the motorcycle community but also how about tapping some of the money that was being spent on Team NZ in the A1GP series? With contacts at all levels of MotoGP such as Peter Clifford, Mike Webb, Simon Crafer, Graham Crosby, Bob Toomey, Shaun Harris etc just to name a few, surely a NZ team could be run on the cheap for Moto3? Even if it just meant running in the Spanish champs and as many Euro GP's as you could get an entry too. Moto2 with level engines, again could be a class that Team NZ could try and run in. Even if it wasnt aimed just for one rider, so that riders like Jake Lewis, Avalon Biddle, the Hoogie boys, Cam Jones, Seth Deveruax, Jaden Hassen etc could be given a taste of racing in Europe even if its just for a race or two? Also the support mechanics etc maybe able to get experience to get noticed by some of the bigger teams and hence get a career or a foot in the door?
I'm sure a team could be run at a fraction of the cost that the America Cup yachties cost to run?
Oh well, it sure would be cool to see an all black bike with a large silver fern racing in GP's huh?

The sheer figures to go racing overseas in the big leagues (even BSB or CEV) is extraordinary. To run a team on a basic NSF would by my calculations cost you around 400,000 euro on a good day, assuming you do things on the cheap and i think thats pretty optomistic. Trying to design your own chassis (and trying to be competitive) would massively increase that. Trying to find the better part of 700k kiwi to go racing is a tall ask for anyone, especially when you consider your likely going to only be able to acheive midpack results with a classy rider. CEV is hardly much better, you only save the airfares and transport costs really, you still need the people and the gear all the same. If the cash was there im sure people would leap at the chance, but till you find a mac daddy (Colin Giltrap = only reason we had A1GP) things wont move.
but anyway great effort by jake. Looking at lots of his foto's from rookies some of those kids were pretty young, and fucking tiny.
As a final note on rookies, who is the best rider who actually went through rookies?? I can think of the past couple of champs and most of them are next to no where on the 125gp scene if memory serves me right

How is it that we don't run a Kiwi Team at the Isle of Man now that I think about it?

Grow up mate, no one suggested you cant come through those channels. How about we not make this thread about you. We all know that your way is the best way and no one else should put forward there opinions.
Hahahahaha!! No nobody said you cant come through other channels,But you did imply that what was on offer wasnt working,Remember the thread you started entitled "Junior roadracing needs to be more attractive"???
They are NOT my ideas,They are the brainchild of MCC and they are working just fine,Theres an ever increasing list of talented riders coming out of there and its without doubt the best thing to happen to NZ roadracing since 250 production back in the late 70s,80s and early 90s.If the North Island clubs took the initiative we'd be laughing,A classic example is,When the entries are down,Instead of promoting the junior classes and encouraging younger riders into the sport that could be potentially around for 20+ years,What do we do,Introduce a class for carburated bikes from the 90s that is only going to attract those that arent committed enough to enter the sport unless its made easy for them and you dont need to be a rocket scientist to know how long they are going to be around!!!
Putting forward your opinion is one thing,Suggesting that what is in
place already isnt working when clearly it is,Is another!!
Go Jake,Avalon,Daniel,Jayden and all the other talented young riders that have come through the streetstock ranks,Im sure you'll do us proud.
