Im assuming its 2 metres? I think some of these questions are stupid, how the fuck do you know your exact distance away from something like that?
that said, fuck them, theyre not people. theyre cyclists.

when they are girly cyclists though, I like to ride closely past them, and give them a solid whack on the rump. always good for a laugh.

Not idea what it is, first question that came to mind, well where is the fucking cyclist? if they are in the middle of my lane, 2m probly isn't an option!

I dunno, you're taking a risk there, isn't is a bit hard to tell the difference between girly pedlys and effeminate male pedleys?

At 50 bucks a test I reckon most would!

He also got the right hand unmarked intersection rule wrong, so will be copping some flak for a while, me and my older brother have gone through about twenty tests with no failures, so it'd be rude not to :shifty:

50 is the re-test, first one was bout a hundred I think. And 30 bucks for optometrist's tick, their machines don't work with glasses (columns swap around and go all blurry), and I wonder why they can't just have some letters on the wall to read instead.

Don't know why he should fail for that, hardly anyone does know. In fact, if you go by the rules you'll have an accident. Several times I've had people make mistakes at unmarked juctions and spoke to them about it, usualy it's a know it all cunt and they are sure they are right. I used to carry a road code book to show, but that didn't impress either. Fuck 'em I say.

Depends on if they are riding 3 abreast.

Then the 2 on my left and the 1 on my right as I cut through them will only be about 500mm each side if they are lucky.

Had to do the above on the Paekakariki Hill last Summer. Had the cheek to give me a blasting at the summit too...

If they fall off after I pass them It aint my fault they can not ride a pushbike.

while the answer is 1.5m this is not law. The lycra brigade keep trying to get it law but for now it is only recommended.
The legal distance (unfortunitly) is "as long as you don't hit them" and I doubt we'll ever be able to get it to -1m, some people seem to have issues with that :innocent:

most people have no comprehension of distance let alone speed.
I reckon 0.05m is good enough, lets see how that Spandex helps them as they slide down the road.
We wear leathers/safety gear and pay a high ACC Levy and cyclists pay nothing!
We seriously need stats to show how many are getting knocked over and the relevant rehab bills so something can be done to fairly charge them for their accidents!
Some form of licence or just putting an increase on car drivers levies as they seem to be the ones who knock them all off!

Your right on the money there, we pay so they can play!
I would LOVE to see the spandex replaced with proper protective gear!
As motorcyclists we invest alot of money in good gear to help reduce the risk of injury, while these leg shavers get to wear gear that increase! the risk of personal injury??

I don't understand why bikers hate cyclists so much. They don't affect us in anyway, you just hoon on past em within the lane and there's plenty of room.

Though had one do the bloody look around and drift to the right this morning. But his own problem if he can't tell the difference between a cars noise and a little 2 cylinder lawn mower.

"Our advice for drivers is to show similar courtesy.

"Wait until it is safe to pass, and give cyclists plenty of room."

Since when did the cyclist decide its legal to ride to abreast :shit:

I get the bastards all parking there cars outside my place in Middle road, Havelock North and starting there "Cycle race" from here. Had one tosser park his car across my driveway and not want to move it because the cycle race was about to start. he moved it just enough to not block the drive.
I mowed the council lawns/Shingle right next to his car with the mower on low

They just put a sign up and take over the road and act like its a closed road

I try to have a drive in my work ute and see if any are cutting the corners (there is lots of them) Cyclist vs Hilux, wonder who would win

If he can be failed for not knowing this, then all the old people driving about should have their licenses revoked... they haven't a hope of judging that distance when they can't even work out what it is they're approaching till they're on top of it. They'll be going up in the stats over the next few years for sure.

SimJen

Even if you are a motorcyclist only, cyclists still cause us problems!
They can still make it awkward to pass if they are 2-3 abreast on a busy road.
They often don't look or stop at intersections when they are turning left, gives you the shits sometimes!
Oncoming cyclists often have cars overtaking them, happily encroaching on our side of the road, with no care for oncoming traffic, granted this is a cage driver problem, but it wouldn't be there if the cyclists stayed hard left or didn't wonder in their lane.
Plus on a side note, they should wear identifying marks so that we know if its a guy or a girl, its very embarassing checking out someone who ends up being a dude ;)

Also, if you have to be 1.5m away from the cyclist. Does that apply to other cyclists too? As they are also vehicles in the laws eyes.
Technically when cyclists are riding two abreast, there should be a 1.5m gap for us to zoom between!

Thats because it's not a legal obligation, just a recommendation & the test does word as such. I believe it asks similar to "What is the recommended distance you should allow when driving past a cyclist?"

There is nothing in the actual highways act that says there in a minimum distance you have to give cyclists however 1.5 is in the road code. Two different things.

But y’know, I just don’t get the rage and vitriol. Sure some cyclists can be annoying as they flaunt some road rules, groups of cyclists really piss me off when they take up the entire lane, but the reality is, it does us in our cars or on our bikes no real harm. It’s like car drivers trying to stop bikers filtering at the lights. Zero impact to the driver but some of them go ballistic and in doing so put me on my bike in real danger.
Just chill and give them some space
