Most likely because her bike didn't cost 50k+ like the rest of the bikes on the grid. Basically a stock honda RS125 with a few aftermarket parts thrown at it I believe. Looking like she will struggle to qualify for the gp (within 107% of the leader), hopefully they can find some time overnight. I think she will need to get down to around 1:45 to qualify.

Might want to try 6s. In the last session the cutoff was 1.45.6 but the leader is most likely to get into the 1.37's in qualifying so that would mean a sub 1.45 lap to qualify. It's a massive task so fingers crossed for tomorrow!

Yes, unfortunately Av is about 6s off qualifying. Sad to say, but the bike is simply not going to be fast enough.

Ah right, bit of a bugger. It'd be interesting to see what sort of times she could post up if someone gave her an Aspar bike for a few laps.

Yeah, I saw Chris Osborne with his sweaty digits wrapped around Jason's forks on their way to Avalon's bike. He mentioned she's also loaned someone's hot engine too (one of the Hoogie's?), so it sounds like she's on pretty close to the best bike NZ can produce via a real communal effort. Great effort from all concerned I reckon, and hopefully they're rewarded with a place on the start grid.

Aint that the truth. Stoner rides the farkin wheels of it. His body language and his eyes when he went out on the qualifiers said it all. He was on fire and looked like he was out to smash someone who put the hard word on Adriana. That's what makes the difference. Passion and determination.

Mate your allowed to be passionate about something tho :apint: carry on :)
I'm not a Smelly chelli fan! he can crash as much as he likes! My only thought is that he's either always gonna be a dangerous cunt or this is settle down season and he'll get his shit together next year and not over ride? dunno juries out for me on him!
Rossi, well his record speaks for itself and I like him to be honest but really hope that he can turn the Duc into a bike we can all ride! I think he still has it, but you cant develop a bike that hit the wall, design wise in one season!
Stoner well let the Aussy win! Best rider on the track this season he deserves it! Love seeing the different styles of Stoner and Lerenzo going head to head. I think Pedrosa coulda made a good run at it to if his season went different! But Stoner is by far the best and a joy to watch!
I doubt they can get the duc fast enough by next season to win but I'd love to see Honda, Yamaha and Ducati fighting it out on the thou's! With Suzuki coming along to push them all as well!

I wanna see Rossi back amongst the front runners mate, don't worry about that. Moto GP racing is worse off for not having him there fighting for wins. He's ruthless and an awesome tactician. I actually don't want to see him become another Ducati wreck statistic. I admire Ducati for daring and trying to be different, and breaking new ground...but I'd rather see them admit defeat with the concept and make a bike that works as it should.

Damian Cudlin:
"I am in a lot of pain. The crash this morning took me completely by surprise and it was pretty aggressive. It was a real shame to crash so early on and especially to cause so much damage. We had been doing a good job up to that point but afterwards it was difficult to get any useful data. I took a heavy blow to my hip and lost a lot of skin from my left side. They have done a good job in the clinic to get me going again and have advised complete rest to give me the best possible chance tomorrow. I'll try to go out in the warm-up, see how I feel and take it from there."

Yamaha Factory Riders to Miss Australian Grand Prix
16/10/2011
Yamaha Factory Racing riders Jorge Lorenzo and Ben Spies will not ride in today's Grand Prix of Australia following separate on track incidents by both.
World Champion Lorenzo was declared unfit to race after sustaining an injury to the fourth finger of the left hand during this morning's warm up. He will travel to Melbourne to undergo plastic surgery to repair the damage. A post surgery report will follow.
Lorenzo's team mate Spies received a hit to the head yesterday during the qualifying session after a high speed crash. After attempting to ride some laps in this morning's warm up, the rider reached an agreement with team members that with reduced concentration attempting the race would be considered too dangerous for himself and other competitors.

Haven't had such a good time there in years. Hot, wet, windy, humid, cold, sunny, wet, warm, cloudy...

We were near Lorenzo when he plopped. Poor bugger, they hadn't found his finger tip last we heard.

Ten things i learnt at Phillip island visit last weekend:
1) Stoner has a bit of talent
2) The Suzuki is not slow in a straight line
3) Phillip Island weather is a prick
4) Post Classics probably wont get invited back as a support class as they oiled up the track....
5) Casey Stoner can ride
6) The Ducatis look slow on change of direction & both riders un-confident in style
7) Seagulls eat chips and anything that looks like a chip, - I;E Horrhays finger
8) Stoner looked fast
9) Karel Abraham had turn 12 totally nailed, he was damm good coming out of there
10) Marquez is a talent & drips confidence & cockyness, to the detriment of some
11) Stoner has balls, speed, confidence, and did i mention he is quite quick ?

Kevin Cameron knows a thing or ten.
"Those fans who are happy only when two or more bikes regularly take the lead by turns may call Phillip Island “a procession” if they like, but that ignores the mastery Stoner displayed in pulling out an incredible 11-second lead over the likes of Repsol Honda teammate Dani Pedrosa. Has skill now become boring to race fans? Has sharing the lead nicely become the be all and end all? Anybody notice or appreciate Stoner’s smoking tires?"
And Pedrosa = Recovering? Fuck man...how long does it take?
Simo = Learning? It's his second season in Moto GP mate. Stoner won his second season.

Exactly. The Honda is pretty much unchanged from late last year anyway...and it's not like Pedrosa was winning everything in sight then either.
And for sure Lorenzo would've won the title if Stoner wasn't there. On a...YAMAHA!

Care to have a wee wager on who will beat who next season then mate?
(Just logged into KB for 1st time in a while!)
Hmmm, let you know this time next year:2thumbsup
Suffice to say my dislike for Casey was 'upped' as of Valencia's race.
I reckon Hopper & Georgie have kinda reinforced what I meant about the whole "racing injured" thing tho'.
The physical demands must be unreal.

.
Why on earth would that be? Are you worried about your sexuality? You starting to fall for him?
Other than that...sit back and enjoy the show. Stoner is the most agressive, most skilled, most hang it out racer you've probably ever seen, or likely to see for a while.
But of course...that's no good at all.

Yeah, so why the dislike, just because he outgunned Elbows to take the win?

Because the haters have been proved wrong, yet don't have the balls/decency to admit it Merv.
Stoner would've won the Championship on the Yamaha too. Plenty of people in the know that'll agree with that.
He was there, or there abouts on the Ducati. And 'God' finished 7th on it this year.
Stoner is a freak of nature.
Oscar...where are you now? Don't make me go back and dig up our posts regarding just who is the fastest/what defines the fastest.
Man up.

What a strange thing to say?
The guy's a RACER. And he proved that beyond all doubt. It would have been easy to settle for 2nd.
Geeez, it's hard to please some people..................

Stoner may be the GOAT in the fullness of time.
I think his only weakness lies between his ears.
Come back when he's won 133 races and we'll talk.

So Haydon, like everyone else that's tried, can't ride that thing either. Whats it gonna take to convince people that Stoner can ride?
Makes you wonder how fast that little nutter would go on a decent bike!
That was posted - 30th March 2009 in another thread. That "Thing", being "Ducati". SVR knew something back then..............
It's about the here and now Oscar - not the past.

Yep Stoner is a frrrreak!
from wikipedia:
One feat he achieved that illustrates his passion and "need" for racing was at age twelve. Over one weekend he raced in 5 different categories in all 7 rounds of each capacity. A weekend consisting of 35 different races... Not only did he compete in all these categories and different engine capacities, the young Casey Stoner went on to win 32 out of the 35 races. There were five Australian titles to be won that weekend, Stoner won all 5.
How about that drift on the long left hander QP (Valencia)

There's no way on earth Stoner will be around long enough to beat Rossi's record. I can't see anyone beating that for a very long time.
But Rossi ain't gonna beat Ago's record, so he ain't the GOAT either if records are your thing.
Stoner weak between the ears?
Anyone that sets as many poles, and wins as many races as Stoner did this year, in the style he did it, is one mentally tough MoFo.
I reckon even you Oscar...must've enjoyed seeing the way Stoner rode that thing this year!?

Who really gives a fuck about statistics except for BOARING statastions!
Rossi has won a truck load for sure, got lucky early on as Mick retired early.
Rossi was the man of his time no doubt BUT HIS TIME IS UP he even has mentioned racing WSBK which is for the Motogp guy's that cant win at Motogp level.
Stoner is king of the 800 era and for the past few years has been the best rider on the planet and I cant see that changing in the next year or two.
People may not like for what ever reasons but boy do they look stupid when they try and discredit what he has done and he is still very young.:bleh:

And if we're to compare apples with apples, in the 800cc era (not till then that Stoner got factory equipment), he's won 32 races to Rossi's 21. Two titles each. Says it all really.

What the fuck is a "statastions"?
For your information we were talking about the "Greatest of all time.", not the greatest of the moment (which is undoubtedly Stoner).
In a year or two?
Who knows?
Who would have picked Rossi to be in this position two years ago?

Me too.
In a perfect world, the aliens would all be on the same bikes.
Maybe they should commandeer some Moto2 bikes for a race between Pedrosa, Vale, Spies, Stoner and Gorgeous George...

The 'Greatest of all Time" is subjective and thus becomes meaningless.
The 'Greatest Now' is more relevant. And right now not even the most ardent Stoner Basher can deny it's Stoner.
If I was a Team Boss - my shopping list right now would be:
1 - Stoner
2 - Lorenzo
3 - Rossi
4 - Pedrosa
5 - Spies
Strictly based on their form to date.
Next year it will be different and that's life.................

What position??
A great Champion has taken on the task of completely re designing/developing a famous name bike from the ground up!
After (or during) a great career, this will be another legacy for him.
Personally I don't quite see why champions have to retire while at the top?
You climb up through the ranks why cant you gracefully slide back down?
Especially if your still havin a blast even if the nut sack has got more sense than when you raced balls out and couldn't see the danger from the win!
and the above is on the premiss that he cant make the Ducati start winning!
Not quite sure if anyone can beat Stoner atm but even if Rossi and Ducati start regularly getting on the podium ahead of the other brands, its a pretty awesome job Rossi, Burgess and Ducati have done in pretty much one season!
Time will tell!!
Re Stoner
I fucken like him!
Like the way he calls a spade, a spade, love the way he rides, love the fact an Aussy from down under is champ!
And he has pretty damn good taste in women as well
Is he as good as Rossi over the length of his career????
Time will tell!!
I worship the pure aggressive skill of Stoner and love the style, humor, mind games, spontaneity and colour that Rossi has delighted us with for the last few years!
May the battle commence bring on 2012!!
Rossi 9 time world champ - Stoner 2 time?
Who is better well Stoner at the mo, but Rossi is the best of our era, so far ova time.
I think we all have to wait till they retire to find out! Any argument before is purely Academic!
Time will tell!!

yeh your right to be honest!
I mis worded that DUH! It shouldn't have read "have done" That of coarse depends on their results this coming season.
I was assuming in my head :weird: they would succeed with some podium results this year??
Honda, Yamaha and Ducati going at it on the thou's would be a good watch!
It's Honda's time atm Pedrosa's matching lap times time prove its a good damn bike and not just a one rider bike.
These things take time as you know what Ducati are exploring don't happen over 3 races.
And I respect them for not just simply joining the others straight off. Unfortunately it didn't work tho did it?
And yeh Stoner could make the thing go good but only due to his aggressive riding style, he's the only one that could have.
Lorenzo, Pedrosa and any of the others incl Rossi are shit on that bike.
I think the engine in the middle thing prob would have never worked. Carbon Fibre has possibilities but needs heaps of time to develop.
They prob have proven to everyone you need the front and back connected by one frame to give a bike any feel. The human factor
At the end the bike was fucked unless you had a dirt tracker on it.
I have faith they will get there and Ducati will end up with a better bike in the end.
And maybe all Ducati owners if this succeeds and filters down?
We shall see??
I have quite enjoyed seeing what Ducati try next and what has worked and not worked over the season.
But Jeepers that Honda with its fancy gear changes and the drive Stoner got out of it!
Did you see how fucken fast it was out of that last corner. Hopefully all the others can get on the pace?
Be nice to see a Dovizioso, De Puniet (on a Suzuki), Spies or even a Bradl giving it to the others.
In the end personally I'm not really a one make or one rider fan
(I reckon Crasher must have naked pics of Stoner on his wall ) ..............sorry mate just couldn't resist that one :msn-wink:
I just love the racing and skill on display.
