Question about Yamaha Scorpio open road riding

hey guys
I got a question about my 2010 Yamaha Scorpio
Well, when i ride on the open road at around 105kmh in 5th gear my bikes revving at about 6500rpm and the start of redline is 9500rpm, this seems a little high to me and it starts to vibrate quite bad if i try take it to 110kmh+,
i was wondering is this bad for my bike holding it this high rev for long periods of time?
(the engine is single cylinder 4 stroke i think 2 valve)

Seriously, those kinds of bikes simply won't rev too high to do damage, they either are ignition-limited or simply don't keep making power past the safe range (probably). What I found with my DR200SE is that it had a rough/buzzy spot in the rev range that was well below peak power. The lower gears pulled through it quickly so you didn't really notice, but the taller gears laboured in the rough patch for a while which discouraged you from revving it more. Once through that, there was a sweet spot for high-rpm cruising.

See what the next gear down is like at that same speed. If it is smoother you could change the sprockets to alter the gearing a bit and therefore the engine revs at a particular road speed eg to make the 110km/h smoother.

As long as you change the oil regularly and let it warm up before you thrash it, you probably won't be able to kill it even at redline day in, day out.

They do over 140kph topped out so will be fine at motorway speeds.

If its really annoying you could try gearing it up so that it does lower rev's at that speed by going up one tooth on the front sprocket or down a few on the rear. You're looking at $40-70 plus fitting (if you can't do it yourself). You'll sacrifice some acceleration but it may get rid of the vibes.

bikes revv higher than cars.
lower capacity revvs higher than larger capacity.

It will be fine, just rape the fucking thing till it nearly shits itself, then pass it on to some other unsuspecting sod, it's what everyone else seems to do.


Dont stress, give her an oil change regularly (dont forget the filter) and it will be good. You're not riding a sportsbike, so dont set your expectations too high

Back in the 80's..showing my age...I raced a Honda XR200 for a season...glutton for punishment..

The TT350 has a vibey spot at about 6,000rpm (100kph).
I kept playing with the gearing to try getting it better but coming back from Tapawera one day, was passing someone who sped up a bit...
7,000rpm was totally smooth.
Useable torque to 8,000rpm...

Got to get my mind around revving more after riding the DR650 where the torque is from 4,500-6000rpm instead of 6,000-8,000rpm.
