I shouldn't skite, but I can't help it... :innocent:
Starting tomorrow after my appointment with my surgeon in the morning, I'm taking Mrs. Bear to a lovely fishing lodge on the shores of Lake Rotorua for the long weekend, we should be home sometime on Monday.
The reason? We will celebrate our 34th Wedding Anniversary on the 22nd of this month and after all we've been through, we weren't sure we'd make it. The last 18mths have been very difficult since my accident in May last year and Mrs. Bear has had to endure a lot and has worked so very hard to keep us going and to support me in my rehab after the stress of nearly losing me.
So this anniversary is somewhat special for more than just the fact that we have been marrried since 22, Oct. 1977. I am truly blessed to have a, (still beautiful), wife who still loves me as much or more than she did at the very beginning.
Our start was the proverbial "eyes across a crowded room" and from then on we were to be together. We now have three grown up children and two sons-in-law, one grandson and another due in January. Reflecting on the last 36 years since we first laid eyes on each other in Wellsford, and remembering the hard times and the good, we truly understand the marriage vows of "for better or for worse, for richer and for poorer, in sickness and in health... until death do us part."
We are a team, a couple, a unit, and we can't imagine being with anyone else. So many forget, what it means to be committed in marriage and after so many years, our family and friends only think of us together and depend on us being "Ed and Jill" as we have been all their lives.
So reflect upon your mate and the reason you fell in love and married him/her and remember that love is all that matters between you. Cherish each other and each day as any day may be your last.
So to my darling wife, I love you more than ever and I'll cherish you until the day I die.

Well said, and well done to both of you.
I'm planning to get away with a hot blonde this weekend as well for the same reason, although our effort of 19 years looks a bit feeble compared to your 34.
Keep up the good work looking after each other.

To true Ed, everyday above ground etc etc....
Spending time together is very important.
Both Anne and myself hate being apart, even for a night.
Only the odd hospital addmission has gotten in the way over the last ten years.
Great achievement to you both..another 34 years is possible mate...
Zimmer frames will be able to hover by then...:corn:

Bloody awesome,my parents were married for 25yrs,seperated 2-3 weeks prior to 26yr anniversary, dads parents made it to 53yrs or so.My auntie/uncles are getting close to 45-50yr so all good, mum is remarried and has been for 21yr in March so not too bad imho, dad been living with his partner for 20yrs.
One year I went to 4 weddings in 4 months,2 are together, and one couple planned wedding 6 weeks after engagement, never lived together and nearly 25yrs later are happy, awesome people who have been the best of mates for me.

Great to see you're still in love.
We have made it to 37 years. It is not always easy, too many younger couples would sooner walk away than do the hard yards.
One guy I take my hat off to was the actor, Karl Marlden. Married for 71 years, same lady, at the time of his death. For hollywood, that would have to be a record.

Well, I managed almost the whole five days without tripping over and hurting myself. But it was minor and didn't spoil the day...:innocent:
We had a fabulous time and it was the best anniversary we've ever had, I think! I've posted a few pics, but sorry guys, some are private...
We are back in time to watch the game on the projector and the whole famdamly is here to watch it with us.

Congratulations to you and you life partner for your 34 years and everyone else getting up there.
Must be something about October as I am a newbie to this and just celebrated my 2nd year on 17 October 2011 and celebrated the 3rd year the same day of when my (now) wife saved my life after a cardiac arrest at the age of 38.
I plan to see many more!

Congrats Mr and Mrs Edbear on reaching such a milestone.
Unfortunately I'll not make the same milestone. 3 weeks short of the 28th year  when we split last year, although we are still friends.
I flew back to the UK back in March to surprise my parents on their 60th. My brother was already there and I turned up at the party unannounced. Thank god their hearts held up. First time in 15 years that the family had been together since I moved here. Now that is a target that takes some reaching.

Sorry to hear that, mate. Maybe you can both take a step back and think about why you got married and sit together as frends and talk about things openly as to what went wrong.
I never give up, we've been through a few times we could have split over the years, but for some reason we stuck together and now we are finding out the rewards of our life together.

Hang in there Mr and Mrs Ed married life gets better the longer it goes on and if you think you have got it tough go and look in the mirror!
Every time I do that I realise who got the best part of our marriage contract .... "for better or for worse" .... how could I be this lucky?

My sentiments too! She told me today I had a cute butt! (Musta been the jeans...:innocent:) She weighed herself this morning and was horrified, but I assured her she was still gorgeous! Even in her early 50's she's got skin and a figure many girls half her age would kill for... She looks at least ten+ years younger, you should see the reaction when we tell people how old our kids are!

Yeah, I'm a soppy old romantic at heart, the kids call me Snotex, :LOL! I've nearly died about 5 or 6 times, so my poor wife is a bit paranoid these days Last attempt was the closest yet, I think, although the Docs reckon I should have been dead many years ago as I've defied the medical norms a couple of times.
I can't remember what "pain-free" is anymore and I've lost a few body parts along the way and now I can pretty much only walk. Still I'm alive and walking, I can see, (got specs though), and hear and talk, (too much...:innocent:) and I've got an amazing family! I'm very grateful for what I have and to wake in the morning with my wife beside me and she opens her eyes and smiles at me... Who could want for more?
