Hey guys n gals,
Has anyone got back to back experience with Metzeler Z8 vs Michelin Pilot Road 2 or 3?
The Michelin with the 2CT tech vs the Metzeler with the varied tension belts to achieve more or less the same end result.
I've found with PR2 and now PR3 that as I approach the end of the tyre's life there's a kind of step that develops where the soft and hard compounds meet.
I'm tempted to try the Z8....

I've run over 6,000km on a set of Z8s and they've been splendid so far. I'll run a set of Road Attack 2s as a comparison next change, before I make any decisions about running another set.

I feel really confident on my PF3s in the wet

Cheers guys, I'm not at all unhappy with my Pilot Road 3s, grippy and confident in the rain like advertised. Given that I got around 18000 kms from the set of Pilot Road 2s, with the 3s looking to be done by around 12000 kms, so the claim about wear rate being better than the 2s has me puzzled. Mmmm, Metzeler Z8 next seems likely then.

Im using PR2's, and they get pushed often. found them fantastic in any conditions, no compliants. Cant soeak for the other options though

My spirited riding style along with about 1500km two up will see my rear PR3 lasting about 7500km to 8000km

if you switch to "touring" mode on your fancy red toy you might get a bit more :p

That won't make much diff still 150 ponies....I need urban or enduro modes to drop the hp to sufficiently woosy to save tires.....same as the GS1200 hp curve:lol:

Right, that's it, I'm biting! You weren't that far ahead, and yet you had 50% more power huh? We'll need to wait a month or two, to see how a GSA likes the PR3, but so far, I've been killing tyres around the 7-10k mark.

Be interesting to know... Just put a set of Z8's on the XB12 and pushed them hard yesterday, felt good but didnt sofen up as much as the usual Z6 rear and M3 frount, wet riding is ment to be were the improvment is, so they say.

I replaced my Z8s after 9,430km. The front was getting decidedly shabby, the rear with perhaps another 2,000km left in it. Most disappointing. I'm getting tired of rears outlasting fronts.

LOL slow down you young buck, try some long bouring straights that will sort it... actually my concern was the frount would be harder than the M3 I usually run, but if it wears out faster than a rear Im thinking it must have some grip.

Had Pilot 3s fitted on Saturday replacing a Pilot 2 on the rear and a Metzeler M1 on the front. Tested them in the heavy rain this morning and they felt great.
