Lookng at heading to Cape Reinga on Saturday via 90 mile beach, my bike has standed duel purpose tyres on it, do I need to change to nobblies to tackle the beach? Or is it fairly compact?

Dual purpose will be fine, the beach is normally pretty firm apart from the 20 metres from the end of the road to the wet sand line which can be a little softer. But tour buses drive through here so the base is pretty firm.

We have been having heavy showers up here for a while so you may need extra care riding in Te Paki stream as it can develop the odd deep hole which can catch you out.

Be sensible!

I've done it on road bikes with road tyres. Even had a ZX10 in our group. The old one not the new one (but it was new then)

Busses do it ... why can't road bikes do it ... :shifty:
