There can be no argument now, that this guy belongs amongst the best.

Oh I'm pretty sure somebody on Kiwibiker will want an argument :)

Pretty sure they will. But they'll be the same ones that use numbers to back themselves up...and they'll have trouble arguing those numbers.

After this season especially, I think everybody (http://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=10759949) recognises Stoner's obvious talent and achievements.

I seem to recall a heap of slagging him off in the media not too long ago...and maybe even a bit on KB? Hmm?

Yeah but that's mostly 'cause he's an Aussie, that's what they are there for :)
The only thing we like to hate more than a successful Aussie sportsman is a kiwi that becomes a successful Aussie sportsman (like Quad Cooper, good job he had a crap World Cup eh :) )

I'd personally far rather an Aussie win. They're like a big brother we love to hate, but actually love! The Aussies are always there for us when we REALLY need them and vice versa.

Do ya think there is some way we could claim him as a Kiwi, start a story that he was conceived in the Bay of Islands when his parents where here on holiday or something, or an IVF with a Kiwi donor. ?
You can tell being unemployed is starting to affect me...

Definitely the best rider in the 800 era, belongs among the best.. yep.
Legend, getting there but not yet...

Well Stefan Merriman is a kiwi that took out Aussie residency, and they claim he's an Australian!

Would you consider Kevin Schwantz, Eddie Lawson and Wayne Rainey to be 'legends'? Cause I do, and Stoner has won more GP's than they did. And he ain't finished yet.

Still...I can't see Stoner wanting to go on forever like a lot of them do. He doesn't strike me as the sort of ego driven guy that wants to own records etc...simply loves winning races, and will quit when he stops having fun doing so.

I think Rossi's amazing total of races wins won't be beat for some time...if ever.

Yip,You'd be a fool to say Casey Stoner was anything but a legend,But hey this is Kiwibiker!!!

May not be the most liked rider,But that doesnt mean he hasn't been the most dominant over the last 4 years.

Ah come on man, it's simple. Just do what the Aussies do, and call him an AUSTRALASIAN. Solved.

Certainly the most agressive and spectacular to watch too. You don't see too many taking turn three at Phillip Island full lock at 240kph nearly every lap. I could watch that all day.

Of course he is a legend. Anyone who can win a MotoGP championship is definitely worthy of being called a legend.

You're also in pretty salubrious company when you win two titles on two different brands of bike!

And the only one to have won a championship on the Duke. I'm a Rossi fan, dyed-in-the-wool, but I still have to congratulate Stoner.

Lawson and Rainey yes, Schwantz, possibly but more because of how he rode but not by out right titles...
I'd say if he wraps up another world title which he probably will he'd make "legend status". Not sure why but i've always thought 3 world titles sort of gets you to place where you can be called a "legend".

When you're next having a coffee at Stoner's place you should ask if he and his skinny wife would be into a threesome...

Maybe, maybe not. If Stoner were to get the right run through the years it's possible, he's young enough.

I agree on this point, not many people have been there...
Maybe he should try F1, see if he can join Surtees in an even more rarified company.

Just on the sly...I'm actually a bit of a Rossi fan too. Always have been. But it's more fun winding up the full on Rossi fans than it is joining in.

I have always been a Stoner fan and have a standing bet with a couple of mates who are Rossi and Lorenzo supporters. Cost me a few bucks last season but this year its coming back double.
