2000 Triumph 600TT - Anything to look out for?

A mate just got the aforementioned bike, and he already loves it to bits.
He is just getting back into riding, so compared to something as user friendly as my VTR, it's a bit of a shock to the system.

On his behalf, just wanting to check if there is anything to look out for on this bike?
He is already well aware of the power delivery issues in the low rpm, and is getting a tune to try and fix that. The headlight seems a little dim, and I cant see any switch for the reserve tank, but I have to say, fantastic bike. Is 36 rear and 33 front tyre pressure reasonable for a bike this size?

Why would a fuel injected bike have a reserve switch?

Other than the absolutely woeful fueling from the afore mentioned injection, they're a pretty sweet like package. Beautifull handling machine. Pretty gutless compared to its opposition as well but a nice level of equipment as standard.

Don't think I've ever actually seen one that could be tuned properly, they're a bit of a hopeless case in that respect.

The best tune to get hold of is a custom one by Craig (uses the name clutchnthrottle on TriumphRat). I can put you in touch with him if you like. It's based on the fuel map from the production 2002 model, which is the best base to start tuning.

Really, the only problem I've had with mine is because I wasn't securing the petrol tank well enough and after a while it would move slightly, causing it to rub against the cam where the throttle cable connects to the throttle bodies and jam the throttles wide open. Tell him to make damn sure that tank is secure all the time.

Be extra careful plugging the fuel lines back into the tank cos the seals get damaged so easily it's not funny. That or the quick connectors just break off, leaving part of them inside the female connector.

Whats injection? :facepalm: Far too used to carby bikes.

Thanks for the advice so far guys, I'm pretty sure the tune will be based on the 02 model. I know the bike was succeeded by the Daytona, but it's a shame they only made them for 3 years, they are fantastic bikes, barring of course the choppy low revs.

The Daytona 600 IS the TT600, just with remodelled fairings, different name etc to try and distance it from the stigma of the atrocious original fuelling.

Underrated bikes. A little porky but by 2002 the fuelling was sorted and it was making almost as much power as the Jap 600's.
