Hi everyone,

I had a motorcycle accident yesterday(Friday morning) in Broadway, newmarket, the ambulance came and I was hospitalized for about 9 hours, at first they suspected I had some spinal broken bones and damaged hips, and neck injury but thankfully after all the scans and the CT turned out to be some strong bruises on my lower back which will take about a month (the pain was beyond significant when the car hit me) to recover from. so here's what happened, I was riding straight in my lane(left) when I saw a side off truck splashing water onto the lane further ahead in a form of a small fountain so there was no way I could have gone through it with my scooter, or even any car so I came to a complete stop so did the cars behind me, no one sounded their horn because they all saw the water and started signaling right as well to change lanes, .. I waited for the right lane to clear and when it was safe I then entered with very low speed (about 20km/h) as there was some water spoilage on the right lane as well so I took it slow so that the scooter wouldn't swerve or do a wheelie, about 2-3 secs later a car came straight through the lane , knocked me off from the sidebars onto that same water spot I was trying to avoid! and kept going, I felt off the scooter hard on the asphalt and rolled over and the scooter flew off for quite a few meters away(the car was fast enough to push the scooter away from my body grip). the driver of that car pulled over and called the ambulance but I was in a lot of pain so I don't have that driver's details or even saw her/his face, while in the hospital an officer came to me with a police event number and said they'll contact me, what I wanna know is what goes on from here and What exactly would happen to that driver who almost killed me.does anybody know

More than likely nothing will happen, it is far easier for police to give out speeding tickets

Based on a similar experience I had, they will likely be charged with careless use of a motor vehicle and fined $500. Don't let that be it! I don't know what kind of influence the victim can have in these kinds of cases but I would be following it up with the officer in question to try to press for the strongest possible charges and penalties. In my experience the police are helpful in following up these kinds of cases.

Hi everyone,
Hi Phantom

what I wanna know is what goes on from hereWell we will meet here once a week and each have turns talking about our individual battles, how we are coping and lend support to one another !

Damn ! Wrong forum !!!

Seriously, you will heal, fix ya scoot (perhaps replace it) ya might even think about why some wear back protectors etc

The SUV driver will get a ticket, and carry on driving the way they always have !

I won't let it go, that driver is a hazard for everybody else on the road, he might get "sinfull" next, maybe then he'll start to understand what it's like to be hit by a car and not "faggly" tell himself "seriously I will heal up maybe i should fix ma scoot" .... I was wearing protective clothes that's why all I got was strong bruises, who said it was a SUV! .. dumb***

EVERY car on the road is a hazzard to us ... dont be picking on one ... Get the details of the offending driver (off the cops) and make a private claim of damages against him/her ...

dumb ??? dont go abusing those giving reasonable advice ...

See FJRider's post earlier. Assuming the cops believe they were at fault then it is likely that it will be a charge of careless use of a vehicle causing injury. If found guilty of this then it is a mandatory 6 month loss of licence.

Next step for you is to wait a couple of weeks for the cops to get back to you advising what has happened, and if you don't hear from them chase up the cop who was talking to you.

And if you're normally not an angry impatient and short tempered person then I'd suggest seeing your GP to see if you have concussion (because you're appearing that way in your posts but we don't know if you're normally like this). This isn't a diagnosis that needs days to make so if they didn't do it at the hospital then they may have either ruled it out or been too busy with the other stuff.....

Woah, steady on Chuck Norris.
I'd say whomever hit you will be getting a careless driving causing injury charge.
Chances are, they may lose their licence and have to pay a little fine.
No jail time, you'd have to kill 17 people or one with a race card to get jail here.

I'm guessing english is not your first language so maybe that's why you are taking offence to every post?

My 5 cents
Make sure the cop who is doing the file gets a list of your injuries (from your GP) and the cost of damage to the scoot, your safety gear, medical expenses, time off work and insurance excess to add some weight to what the driver has done rather than it being presented in court as a simple spill. Always have the job number on hand when making contact with the police.

I really dont think you have ANY idea what I meant ...

And your attitude to all that have commented on your plight ... suggests your injurys may not be able to be seen in X-rays ...

Mind you ... as you are a scooter rider ... it MAY be just normal behaviour ... :whocares:
