Most of us will know of this - even heard it on Youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YF757z86tlo). I never realised what Honda did to actually make the thing
Here's an article about George Beale who set about building a replica. Took him 9 months just to get the oil cooler made. Even the sump had 15 sub castings, hidden oil ways 1mm in diameter and so forth

Great read - good find.

This is what racing is all about. Imagine where we would be if they hadn't put the brakes on this sort of engineering with parity measures and regulations.
