Headphones?

I have a pair of Shure E2Cs for listening to music when on the bike and due to the style they stop a lot of the noise from the wind however they are now broken so need to be replaced, anyone recommend something similar?

Couldn't tell you, I don't remember him mentioning the name. But I have heard of them before and that they are very good

I use skull candy ink'd in ears.
The cable is a bit temperamental, but if you look after them they last. Only about $40 as well

Anything thats a bud,
I have had skull candys, Sennheiesers and some $5 ear buds from the super market, they all do the same thing, and realistically you dont need that much volume unless you want to lose your hearing, if you wanna lose it, go Sennheiesers

iPod Touch. I stuck it in my pants pocket, and because of the silicone case it stayed put. It's screwed up the headphone lead though, so ill have to move it.

I was imagining Jacket pocket at best. Does your pocket have a special place for a earphone cord? Or is it simply zipped in ? Do you still use it when it rains etc?

It would be. Nope. No Zipper on my pants. And Nope

I have draggins, and put my ipod there so I could pocket control the volume. As I said the silicone cover for it is quite sticky so it doesn't move

I've got some Logitech Ultimate Ears with a mic and my phone goes in my jacket inner pocket. The amount of wind noise they cut down is amazing!

Im in the process of setting up an accessory socket under my seat, and ill plug my ipod in when I have it, and ill run a cable under my tank to the head stock where I will have a flush mounted headphone jack. All I need to do, is slap it on shuffle like I do now, get on, plug in and ride, If someone wants to talk to me or whatever, I just unplug.

Regardless of which you get, reinforce all the weak points with heatshrink tubing, or else the vibration just wrecks everything.

I have a set of Bose ones that work brillantly, just a bit pricy. Best sounding set I have ever found.

I recently met up with David Taylor of www.kiwiplugs.co.nz.
He takes a cast of your ear, and makes silicone ear plugs around sets of skull ink'd phones.
Sadly they didnt work out for me as the fit of my Shoei helmet is just too snug, and they either came out of the silicone plug when I pulled helmet on, or when David tried further building up the silicone, I then couldnt get helmet on, as they crushed into my ears.
But David was very honest in his efforts and when we conceeded defeat, he didnt charge me for the plugs that I returned to him. I kept the Skull ink'd phones though for use when gardening with lawntractor & weedeater as they go nicely under my ear-defenders.
So depending on the fit of your helmet, David is worth a try. He's based in Waikanae.

So I am on the look out for a recommendation for a set of earphones, that are comfortable worn long term in a helmet, especially a tight fit like my Shoei.

I have a pair of Plugz for Lugz that are just fabulous. I have had them for about 3 years now and wouldn't use anything else. They fit perfectly into my ear, don't fall out and the sound is great. They weren't particularly cheap but are worth every cent.

@lucyloo - thanks for reply, though that looks the same sort of thing that David at Kiwiplugs tried for me... I was looking for a recommendation for an 'off-the shelf item'.
I was looking at the Westone1 product, which seems to come recommended in reviews I have read, but looking at them, I just wonder whether they will stay in or crush against my ear???

We use an Autocom fitted under the seat, and just run a lead under the tank to the bars.
The flush speakers fit inside the ear recess in your helmet, and the intercom has a vox volume reducer for chatting to the pillion.
MP3 in a holder tyrapped to the left bar, so you can adjust volume or switch off while riding.
We've toured many miles and as long as both people like the same music, you're sweet.
There's models which can take inputs from phones, radar detectors etc.
Not a fan of in ear speakers myself, and this setup is ideal for us.

I use an iPod, I stick it in a ziplock bag in my pocket. sometimes pants pocket sometimes internal jacket pocket. Very rarely I put it in my tank bag.
I figure if I come off, which pocket my iPod is in (and if it survives the crash) is the least of my problems.

I have tried allsorts of in ear bud type systems all of which were unsatisfactory for one reason or other. I didn't want to spend the money on Plugz4lugz. I should have just bought them in the first place. I too have used mine for several years now and still rate them as my best bit of biking kit.

the volume control is built into the cord about halfway down..............have a loop with the control part stickin out from under the velcro main zip cover of ya jacket so its easy to get to........dont even have to remove gloves to operate...........cant remember the price sorry

New I had seen it somewhere. Plugz4Lugz are definately doing Big Boys Toys (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php/143617-PLUGZ-4-LUGZ-AT-BBTs).
I got their standard plugs (not stereo wired) as well and use them for sleeping during the day (the joys of shift work). Or for when I'm riding and don't want music.

Money well spent in my book.

After a recommendation here, I picked a pair of the Sennheiser (mm30i) plugs from Dick Smiths for $110.
Worked a treat. Went on no problem with my tight fight Shoei, comfortable and music quality was excellent.
Highly recommended and worth the $110.

A local audiologist here in Kapiti coast makes custom plugs with thingys set into them for motocyclists. Very reasonable price and very comfortable. Perhaps there is someone in your area who does the same if you ask around hearing aid people, hospitals and so on you can prob track one down
