Its not like its a ducati, where they only have a red and yellow paint brush, and no masking tape to make some sort of graphic.

If Suzuki were really clever they'd put the engine where the number plate bracket is....

I like it, the tail section is an improvement, as is the pipe. Still don't like that headlight, and I hope Suzuki asked Chevrolet if they could shape it from the famous bow tie.

I think you'd be surprised at how many do.

Us gixxer lovers are a loyal lot, and there is a good percentage of us who buy the new one just because it's that. A new one.

The L2 is quite different by the looks, I like it heaps more than any other model except the K5/6. And lets face it, I only love those so much because it's gotta be the most insane mass produced motorcycle ever.

Hey I love my Suzukis and even I struggle to see the logic in buying the latest and greatest. I accept the GSX-Rs have a kind of cult status that perhaps only Harley riders can challenge (or understand).

Just having the latest and most powerful bike simply means arriving that little bit earlier at the scene of the crash....for some at least....

Because for some, their Gixxer is part of who they are. So getting the new one straight away, (knowing it will be $2000 cheaper in six months from the same shop), is a form of self improvement.

Who fuckin knows? There is no real argument for buying any vehicle brand new these days, except that if no one did it, the rest of us are shit out of luck!

An L2? If I had that dosh to spend on a bike I'd much rather pick up an L0 with a decent zorst already fitted, maybe even a power commander, for mid-teens. Then throw a Brembo RCS radial master cylinder, decent pads, and Ohlins cartridges and shock at it.....leaving me with a better bike and cash in my pocket compared to buying a new L2. I'd then spend the extra cash on a spare set of rims for all the track days I'd sign up for...........where all my smart thinking is completely undone by the fact that some smart fearless lil' fucker on a Hyosung 250 can prolly ride better.......reality is a cold heartless bitch.

Theres so many great choices in the big bike market aye. But IMO if you narrowed it down to one litre sportsbikes with an across the frame 4cyl layout then the big bang Yam is hard to beat for comfort, power delivery & all round road usabilty. If power to weight is your thing then the BMW is a no brainer, To me the gixxer & the honda sit in the middle of the fence, whilst the Kwaka & MV lean toward the "character sports" department.

We're spoiled for choice, which is a good place to be.

The R1 cross plane power delivery isn't my cup of tea, in race mode (which is where most people think they'll go faster), the bike is snatchy and too responsive to the slightest throttle touch. Easiest to notice when you try and wheelie the thing. I'm convinced it's why it now comes with traction control too, they used to highside real nice.

Who can afford the BMW, RSV4, MV, 1198?

The Kawasaki is a massive leap forward for them, it can now keep up.

The Honda although slightly more aggressive than it used to be, doesn't capture my picture of a litre bike for performance. It's too sensible.

The Gixxer doesn't have the best finish, but it's bullet proof, animalistic (no where near as much as a K5/6 which is my thou of choice), and cheap.

Yeah mate. The 1000 is an awesome bike, but for some reason I find myself enjoying the sem fiddy more. Easier to stay at sensible cruising speed on the sem fiddy. And they are VERY nimble. I would go so far as to say that the K6 I own at the moment would be the best bike I've owned so far.

(His Z750S popped up on TradeMe. I saw a bike like "ours", sent him a link out of interest, and he recognised his additions.)

No huge rush as I'm waiting on a client payment. Do prefer new over demo.
