Notice the date is chosen by the Northern Hemisphere types. How about we set it for January the 20th & see how they go

What's wrong with the date? It's a Wednesday, should be OK for most?

Because those up north are a bunch of fair weather riders. We're much harder that that.

Well technically, that's my first day of work. At home. I'll still go for a hoon, see how manylike minded souls there are around the place.

Have to agree. It's mid-summer in the northern hemisphere, so the "International ride-to-work day" suits them fine. In January when the Yanks are organising a ski-week, are we all going to get our skis out to ski to work?

Heavy frosts and black ice are not ideal conditions for riding to work. Common sense says we organise a summer day for the southern hemisphere. :ride:

Ahh wouldn’t it be nice just to see only bikes on the Pakarunga HW or any other stupidly congested road. Only if the world was a better place!!

Hope this clears up your opinion of soft

Looks like rain in Tauranga tomorrow... looks like I'll be gettn wet :weird:

If everone can ride a bike tomorrow it may free up some of our more congested roads... If we all avoid the major roads we can make it seem even less congested.
Im thinking... If enough people notice a difference in traffic, the govt may lighten up on bikers and promote the use more, like lower cost registations, cheaper gas  increased speed limit :weird: no licence restictions :devil2: free tyres
Nah... thats bull... but wouldnt it be nice :ride:

raster
19th July 2005, 19:40
Yea Right, since when has that made a difference.

I think you might be pushing it for the cheaper gas though, govt get too much money out of it.

So, with the weather looking ominous, and my wets nowhere to be found, I managed to gather the stones, to throw a leg over, and get with the program.
The good lord, then saw fit, to knock the rain on the head and make sure it weren't too cold :ride:
All was good, and I never saw another bike the whole way there, or on the way home.
Methinks the Wellingtonians went soft on it this year! :oi-grr:

I went for a ride this afternoon and got my bike insurance sorted out while I was at it - miserable sods were trying to take two instalments out at once!

Lovely day, but the sun was dropping a bit low by the time I got home about 4.30pm - I should have gone out before lunch instead! Or as well as!

Damn, the weather down this way has been shit this week!! Well I took a Honda to work, does that count?

In the northern hemisphere i bet those guys were sweating heaps inside all their safety gear. Their KB equivalent is probably full of:

- did you see how sticky that tar was...
- I could hardly see with all the sweat dripping my eyes
- oooh the smell when I got to work
- etc etc

But anyhow I took the trusty GB this morning, the fog was so thick that it was like having a second porridge. Then it decided to liquify this evening. What's a pair of wet pants compared to the trials the northerners will have.

DISSAPOINTED!

I started off as per normal. noticed some pushbikers and realised it was today. so I kept an eye out so I could do a extra special wave/nod whatever. I saw NO-ONE.
except 1 moped in central auckland.

I rode my pushbike, does that count? Took the motorbike for a ride after uni though. Wasn't sure what the legality of riding with no mirrors is though, didn't want to risk getting taxed leaving it at uni all day. :stupid: Now back to the assignments
