Hey guys, so I made the ultimate mistake of agreeing to be on the Tenancy when I moved house with my flatties. I have since been offered a much better deal elsewhere by my parents, after having some difficulty in getting along with one tenant. 4 weeks after moving out however, I am still paying rent as the tenancy is a 12month fixed term. I am stuck paying rent until the old flatmates find a replacement for me. They will not give me the contact details for our landlord, nor access to the tenancy agreement. I am trying to sort this out with them however.
It would be muchly appreciated if anyone who knows someone wanting to move into a flat in Hamilton can send them the below link, or even if you guys could just help spread it around a little, as I'm really struggling with bills in amongst this mess!!
I'd better clarify that the reasons for the issue getting along with the old flatmate is that I am studying aviation, which involves many early starts, whilst they are at Uni and prefer late nights and the odd party.

Haha nope, but I do know who it was. We had class at Hamilton Aero, cos CTC has run outta space but some people can't listen very well...

Just walk away, your liabiity is only limited to your bond. You have given the others a month so to find a replacement, tennancy will likely find you have acted reasonably.
If you need legal reason simply say as a tennent you are entitled to un disturbed residency which was impossible because of the others nocternal activities.

Are you sure about the liability? In general contract law if you don't terminate as per the contracted termination arrangement then you can be liable for the remaining term of the contract.
And as the lease holder it's his fault that his flatmates are noisy, not the landlords......

Point taken but this is a tennancy agreement issue and tennancy will simply take a pragmatic approach. However in this case both the landlord and the tennants responsibility to insure everybody his an undisturbed tenancy. "Allow the tenant quiet enjoyment of the premises." and "Not disturb the neighbours or the landlord's other tenants."
I would say the other tenants have the problem.

Stop paying them. Worst that can happen without the landlord talking to you is that your flatmates won't like you.

Cheers for the advise haha, really I just want to find someone for the flat. But I am getting a copy of the Tenancy Agreement, as I am entitled to, and then we will go from there.

It got messy. With no copy of the tennancy, and no contact details for my Landlady I have stopped paying rent. I am pretty sure I have a right to those two details at the least...

To be honest, I don't rate your chances. These guys sound like a bunch of cocks and not people I'd want to be involved with if I were flat-hunting.
