CAFFEINE FOR BIKERS

Tensions boiled over in January 2010, when members of the rival gangs, some wielding ball-peen hammers, fought outside a Santa Cruz Starbucks before scattering as police arrived.

"It was all about who would be allowed to hang out at the Starbucks downtown," Santa Cruz Deputy Police Chief Steve Clark said. "The Vagos brazenly came in and tried to cement their presence. It was a pretty strong play on their part to establish themselves as the premiere club."

He added: "Only in Santa Cruz would you have biker wars over who's going to control pumpkin spice lattes."

 I can see it now, "I'll have a grande, double shot, de-caf, soy latte please" Why would anyone want to hang out at Starbucks? Coffee is shit as well.

I once went to a Starbucks in Harlem. Everyone was african american as far as the eye could see, but the Starbuck staff were all hispanic and couldn't speak english ver well. Glad I wasn't on a bike or I would have really been in trouble.

At least Starbucks open till 6pm. All the other coffee places seem to shut between 3 and 4.

Totally agree. Last time I had a coffee at Starbucks was in Cashel Mall about 7 years ago. The crap was in a large soft drink type cup with a lolly stick in it?! Tasted awful and made by people who don't give a shit obviously-and it wasn't cheap either.

LOL. Starpuke sells so many flavours in such huge cups to disguise the taste of floor sweepings they use for coffee. IMHO.

I have a number of Merckan customers wandering in asking for the weirdest things in their coffee. Frustrating. They do not even realise that natural vanilla is bitter, they are so used to chemical syrups. I might give up on quality & boost my margins, only the locals would notice.

Oh, I would'nt mind a brawl for territory outside of my shop, could use the publicity if anybody fancies? (Not enough room inside so pick a nice day....)

It's not really fair to call it coffee, I think a large hot milk with a shot of coffee for flavour is closer.

Are you serious? That sucks balls. Another reason to hate starbucks.

I (accidentally) managed to time a trip to nepal when they were paving the runway at lukla. I scabbed a ride in a bullet ridden helicopter sitting on bags of rice. Saw 15 other hikers on the whole trek, so glad I aced the timing.

Starbucks is just like McDonalds, it offers a shitty product and is popping up everywhere in the world  I remember when I used to go to europe and not see any stupid american fast food anywhere...oh well. Wouldn't have thought that it had reached Nepal yet though...I'm planning a trip to Nepal after Uni :):woohoo:

Best coffee in Wellington

Kaffee eis on Courtenay place - plus you can get gelato in every flavour imaginable!
Or Memphis Belle on Dixon

And most definitely not Wellington Motorcycles, especially made by Pete

We Kiwi's are spoilt with some of the best coffee, well not spoilt as we deserve it after all :corn:. For what I hear the closest you can get to decent coffee in the good old US of A is Starbucks

All the US food and beverage chains aim at the lowest common denominator without worrying too much about quality.

who'd have thought 20 years ago that in the future real men would be drinking premixed coke through a straw. Obviously Mc Donalsds did.

Yes but how do I look in this jacket while waving from starbucks as it’s just too hard to see my reflection in my chrome with this iridium visor on as all you can see is the orange from the hi-vis…
