A murky early morning....... but turned into a warm sunny (perfect for racing) day by 10.00am.
Another huge turnout of people & bikes with large grids in all classes (i will included sidecars in this with 4) but they were there.
I was back pitside again as Ants was having his first outing on the Pro-twin this season.
Senior (1000/600)
Largest grid seen for a while, with a whole heap of talent particually in 600,s. John Ross / Dennis Charlett were tied together all day (think John had the upper hand yesterday) Ryan Hampton was pushed by both these two & James Smith (who seemed to have a few issues)
Stand out guys just behind were Cam Jones - Johnny Small - A Hoogie.
F3/Protwin/125
The "chuby" 450/r6 was on song (and its twin sister) looking great - sounding awesome - and setting a fast pace.
Wade van de Arand was in a class of his own in Protwin........ My boy had a great first outing straight back to the pace he was at 6/8 months ago when he last rode. But with no fitness issues and a very positive headspace our team was pleased with our results and are looking forward to next round and the Tri-series.
Seth Devereux was making great progress on the 125.... hitting all the goals he had set himself and learning heaps about set up...... needs to book a double/discount surgery with J Hassan to have his legs shortened......!
Streetstock/F4/Prolite.
Another huge grid of bikes........ A Hoogie on his "Repsol" CBR 150 was on fire in the 1:54,s i believe. My pick of the day is Scout Fletcher (RG150) another very fast young lady who is pushing the seasoned campaigners of Larry Ross / Jock Woodley and beating them....GO Girl.
Clubmans(motards)
Another big field (although some regulars were missing) this shows that the sport is popular and hopefully many of these riders will move into the other classes as they improve.
Training
These had at least 3 sessions with a chance for us all to see the very youngest riders at he beginning of there careers.........awesome

The day ran like clockwork (Well done fellow MCC team) practice was over and first race was 10.30pm...
Dont think recovery picked anybody up all day (im sure someone will correct me) couple of minor oil spills.

If the strength of the 600 entry was anything to go by (now add the Nth Is entries) then this class is going to be AWESOME come Jan7th (Rd1)

As for my own camp......... Ants is fired up to contest the ProTwin at HD & Manfield(tri series) & Nats The 250 Prolite is nearing completion and Seth will be debut it at KOR rd 4........ and in Ultralite at HD & Manfield & Nats.

Bring it on.......:scooter:

Top write up Merv. Accurate and to the point! Just a bit of background... Wade van den Arend gets his name mis spelt (and mis pronounced) a million different ways so a good effort there! He is now 22 and and on his 13th birthday was in Invercargill keen to get going on buckets and stuff. Then not long after bought Steve Woods RG150, bringing the whole South Island count for Streetstock up to 3! And him the only one under 20. A few months later there were 7, you coundn't fit them all on one grid row. Amazing!
Wade then progressed to 125GP under the care of Andy Evans (Champion) and then 600's at a very young age (16 I think) He did EVERYTHING on the bike and managed it all himself. His parents supported, but always just a few safe steps back. Shaun Harris helped him out and he completed a whole championship which started with 30 entries, his ambition was to get 1 point at least, which he did at the last race beating Jeremy holmes.
Then about 5 years retirement for study and trades etc.
After putting fairings on his road bike, WHAM, he's back on the pace in one meeting!

Go well Wade

And Scout? Yep she's great. A fabulous mixture or a youngster's enthusiasm blended with a level and clear head. And she LOVES riding bikes. Whatever her results riding bikes she will have a lifetime of winning, for sure.
And she knows how to look after her sponsors. She tried 9 diffrent recipes for Afghans until she hit on the perfect one. So what did she bring me on Sat at the track? The best in the world, complete with a walnut from their own back yard.

But not far behind Scout are few other young ones. Blake, Zane, Baillie and Lewis is rising fast.
They'll all be there come Nationals I'm sure. And another great year of seeing fresh youngsters move forward to the front row as the 'graduates' have moved on to fill 125GP and Pro Twin

Agree Pete those other names in Streetstock are all contenders for the McCleary/Mainland Cup. Its good to see the oldies (jock and larry etc) putting all there wisdom to test in a bid to hold off or stay with the young guns. Once again streetstock not only brings on youngsters but makes racing across the age range very exciting stuff.
It will be another "cracker" class again in 2012:woohoo:

Billy.......... shall i be expecting a box marked *HEAVY* very shortly................:innocent:
