Motorcycle Search peramiters...

Wouldnt it be great if trade me updated the motorbike searh peramiters
For example simplify the fields for most people to easily place an add in the right section or find without looking in all sections.
for eg.
Road
Track
Dirt Bike
atv's / farm
Classic/ Vintage
Would cover easy searching for bikes

Also the CC ratings to choose from would make easier searching with
50cc
250cc
400cc
600cc
750cc
1000cc
1000cc+
As these cc sizes are more accurate/common also with registration costs more people are looking at the sub 600cc bikes.

What do you think if you think iam onto a winner send trade me an e-mail on

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Help/ContactUsForm.aspx?help_id=0

And ask them to make a change as we are the ones using the service....

Have often thought about asking them to change it. Can be a real pain in the ass searching for bikes. Every cunt seems to think their bike is a sports bike these days.

Thats why I thought posting on here was a good idea....
If 50 - 100 people send them an email at around the same time (with a week)
Maybe they will get the message..

And well we are there customers

Yep, about 600 emails a week for 3 months had zero effect.

Dunno about what is different to what is on Trademe - the search does all that: category, engine size, make, price, year.

Thats all good what they have but for example you cant search for a 600cc bike without looking at 500cc - 750cc. And alot of road bikes are in 3 different areas so to find them you end up either searching 3 times or end up looking at dirt bikes and farm bikes aswell which swell your search results... This way would just keep searching alot cleaner + if your selling your more tha likely to put your bike in the right section so would get more hits etc.

Their business model favours having you chase all over their website searching out the hidden gems; thus you'll never get them to make it less than the steaming pile of shit (usability-wise) that it is.

They blatantly don't give a fuck about anything other than money; try paying them to change it.

Things like the CC ranges are not a technical limitation - in fact you can easily convince Trademe to search specific CC ranges, for example here is a search of 600cc to 600cc (ie, exactly 600cc) cruisers...

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/CategoryAttributeSearchResults.aspx?search=1&mcat=0001-0026-1255-&sidebar=1&39=Cruiser&40=&153=&9=600&9=600&24=0&24=0&51=0&51=0&sidebarSearch_keypresses=0&sidebarSearch_suggested=0

I suspect their search facility requires the correct spelling to get any results.

Just saying.

Well that brought up only the 1 listing for me so unless there is only one 600cc cruiser for sale on trade me I think that worked pretty well...

I think you'll find there is indeed only one 600cc cruiser listed.

The Developer API exposes a simple integer for min and max.

Here's one for 650cc cruisers, plenty of LS650's as you'd expect.

Here's one for all bikes 251cc to 600cc
