Hi there, i've been lurking around the forums for a little bit now and i thought i'd introduce myself a bit. Been involved in motorsport for nearly thirty years mostly Karting and Dirt track saloons but did run a couple of buckets and a sidecar way way back. My first event was a meeting run in the Manakua city centre carpark late eighties early nineties and i learn't there leaning bikes right over on crappy road tyres leaves you with a pain in the rear.Ran acouple of buckets at mt welly but realised my riding skills were crap and so tried a sidecar. Brought what was one of the top ones from Hugh who was workshop forman at Manakau Honda in Cavandish drive, after a couple of runs he wanted to buy it back off me and i moved back into gearbox go-karts. That's the sidecar i'd love to fit the Aprillia rotax motor to, just to see how it would go, so if anyone knows where Hugh or the sidecar might be i'd appreciate there help, will try to load some photos of it when i get my scanner working again. Will be racing a sidecar on 18th dec and hopefully after christmas will have a couple of bikes as well, depending on finances I do community outreach through my church and want to get some of the at risk youth in the community involved. To give them some direction and focus so please come and say hello on the 18th, you'll know us tatty white vans one with airport auto electrical on it and one with Glen eden baptist. Hopefully we'll have a barbaque with us.

Actually that does ring a bell, but I remember a few from doing 2hrs in Auckland. There was a chap Hugh who used to run an MB50 back in the day, but can’t remember his 2nd name. I assume the shop is closed now, as they might have known where he was.

Either way bucket sidecars haven’t run in Auckland for about 8 years & they are large & awkward things to store. I can’t imagine many people would have not chopped it for bits sorry to say.
